Independent Travel Training SEN TRAVEL ENABLEMENT ACCESS TO LEARNING
Who is it for? GCC criteria 1. Young person with EHCP 2. Moving onto post 16 full time 3. Living over 3 miles from nearest, most appropriate placement
GCC Travel Training 1. Referral form to be completed 2. Permission to be signed by parent/carer 3. Home visit (initial assessment) 4. 1:1 real time travel training from home to school/college 5. Sign off
What does this include? Travel training with GCC can include: Using a mobile phone/apps appropriately Journey planning Coping strategies/What ifs Crossing road Using public transport 1:1 support on a withdrawing basis
Travel Training in schools For schools to deliver travel training somewhere on timetable at some point in the year to all year 11s with SEN GCC to provide resources/bus passes for practicing routes This can be accredited: Edexcel Skills for Independence and Work E2 (units 7&8)
