Active Lifestyle Hockey (Age Guide 12-80) Purpose Hockey is a sport for anyone and this stage of the pathway encompasses all of our lifestyle programmes where we have an entry point for anyone no matter their age, ability, goals or fitness levels. Game formats can / should be adapted based on playing numbers, pitch availability or ability levels. Fun Start - Learning to Play (Age Guide 8-13) Purpose To provide a clear player pathway suitable for all depending on age / ability. The small sided game formats will provide players with more touches, experiences in different positions and prepare them for 11 v 11 hockey. Learning to play also provides a clear pathway for our coaches and umpires to gain valuable experience before moving into 11 v 11 hockey. Fun Start - Introduction (Age Guide 5-9) Purpose To provide a fun and engaging entry point into our sport through 4 v 4 games that can be played on any surface 1/8 of a pitch. This format will provide more touches of the ball, improve confidence, allow more decision making and ultimately is a simplified version of our game that will encourage more people to participate.
