Casandra Merkel Senior Specialist, Membership Engagement ACRP ACRP Representative Casandra s work with the association focuses on the chapters and the online community, so if you ve seen or heard her name before, that may be why. She s been with ACRP since 2017 and has touched almost every part of the organization while there, which allows her to have at least some cursory background in all aspects of it.

Atlanta chapterWhere we have come from Chapters 1.0 Separate Independence Corporation, existing under the ACRP tax exempt umbrella. Maintain a separate Board of Directors and are contractually bound to ACRP. Separate Corporate Bank Accounts, funding comes from dues and events Chapter officers handle corporate management, financial, tax, legal, ACRP reporting and programming burdens
Atlanta chapter where we are now Pilot program: Chapters 2.0 - The Chapter is not incorporated with the state. All governance structures will fall under the purview of ACRP National and the Chapter Charter (corporate management, financial, tax, and legal burdens). - Officers are considered ACRP volunteers and supported by ACRP. - Programming balances and budgets are within ACRP budget and kept on internal servers.
Atlanta chapter where we are now, Leadership Membership Engagement Chair: Communication/ Technology Chair: Chapter Lead: Coordinates activities of the Chapter. Responsible for communications and coordination with ACRP Global, as applicable. Education Chair: Prepares all details for educational events (speaker, location, food/beverage, etc). Ensures the Chapter s website is up-to-date and that communications are provided for all Chapter events Engages current membership, recruits new members and encourages engagement with non- members and local research community. Coordinates any Networking events.
Chapter Lead Nikki Hirsh, MS, CCRC Director of Research Programs American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network (ATHN) Nikki has a passion for clinical research, training, leadership development, and organization. She has 13+ years of experience in clinical trials within private practice, corporate, and academic settings as a CRC, CRA, and manager roles amongst psychiatric, general health, and oncology research. She enjoys sports, singing, stepping on crunchy leaves, and having tickle wars with her kids. ATLchapterACRP@gmail.com
Membership Engagement Chair Denise Whitlock, CCRC Regulatory/QA Coordinator WellStar Research Institute Denise has been serving the medical community most of her adult life, first as a respiratory therapist and then later as a sleep tech. Her present role is as an IRB analyst and Regulatory Coordinator here at WellStar. When she is not reviewing protocols or chasing after signatures, she loves to paint, read, and shop endlessly for clothes and make up. Denise.Whitlock@wellstar.org
Education Chair Kaitlin Sitchenko, MBA, CCRC Director of Compliance Florence Healthcare Kaitlin is passionate about mentorship and is fascinated by the intersection of technology, clinical standards, research ethics, and quality patient care. She brings 9+ years of clinical, administrative, and research experience, of which 5+ years were coordinating oncology and infectious diseases studies. Communication/ Technology Chair Anupam (Ana) Gaonkar Clinical Research Coordinator WellStar Research Institute Ana is always an active learner with 15 years in clinical trials, enjoys scientific research and emerging technologies in clinical research.
