  10. Determining the section number for a cultivar using the AHS Database.

  11. Click on Advanced Search

  12. Enter cultivar name

  13. Click on display flower show sections X

  14. Flower show section is identified in bold. Other sections may also be identified, but not highlighted. They are provided as guidance for awards other than exhibition shows and, thus, do not apply. For example, this cultivar would be entered in Section 5, Double and Polymerous. It is also identified as a small flower, but not for exhibition purposes.

  15. Lists of cultivars to be placed in Sections 5-7 are available on the advanced or basic search pages of the database. Only those cultivars listed on the official flower show lists for these categories are allowed to compete in these sections. Regardless of how a flower is performing on the day of the show, it must be placed in the section in which it is registered. For example, a flower that is on o the official Doubles list must be placed in Section five, whether or not the flower is blooming double on the day of the show.

  16. The Multiform Classification Guide Registered As: Place in Show Section: Double / Spider Section 5: Double and Polymerous All multiforms, except Double / Unusual Form Section 5: Double and Polymerous for unusual form spiders, Double / Polymerous Section 5: Double and Polymerous go into Section 5, Double & Polymerous Double / Spider / Unusual Form Section 5: Double and Polymerous Double / Spider / Polymerous Section 5: Double and Polymerous Double / Unusual Form / Polymerous Section 5: Double and Polymerous Spider / Unusual Form Section 6: Spider Spider / Unusual Form / Polymerous Section 5: Double and Polymerous Spider / Polymerous Section 5: Double and Polymerous Unusual Form / Polymerous Section 5: Double and Polymerous Polymerous Section 5: Double and Polymerous

  18. Insert the Section number on both the top and bottom portions of the hang tag

  19. Insert the Group on both the top and bottom portions of the hang tag. The Group is the first letter of the cultivar name Do not fill out the information on Class , unless specifically directed to do so in the show schedule.

  20. Fold the bottom part of the hang tag so that it completely covers any information regarding the identity of the exhibitor. NOTE: Some Classification chairs prefer to verify the information on both portions before folding. You may wait to fold based on your local procedures. You re now ready! Good luck!

  21. The AHS Achievement Award/Medal, Section 11, consists of a collection of three scapes of the same unregistered cultivar making up a single entry. Each scape is identified by the word seedling . No other identifying marks are allowed. There is no group or class designation.

  22. FOR THE EXHIBITOR Because Section 11 is a collection of three individual scapes, each scape must be tagged. Each entry must be designated as a member of a collection by designating the entry as: 1 of 3; 2 of 3; and 3 of 3 on the reverse side of the tag. Do not place any marks in the Entry Number sections.

  23. For The Classification Chair 4 Classification Chairs verify that each entry in Section 11 consists of three individual scapes of the same seedling. 4 Classification Chairs also designate a distinct Entry Number for each entry and mark it on the hang tag of each entry. 4 (Number 4, in this case.)

  24. For The Classification / Show Chair 4 4 Show organizers should clearly identify the entry numbers for each collection in this section on the show table exactly as designated on the hang tags.

  25. The Ophelia Taylor Horticultural Award, Section 12, consists of a collection of five scapes making up a single entry. It is divided into two separate classes. Class 1: Five scapes of registered cultivars Class 2: Five scapes of unregistered seedlings

  26. FOR THE EXHIBITOR Because Section 12 is a collection of five individual scapes, each scape must be tagged. Each entry must be designated as a member of a collection by designating the entry as 1 of 5; 2 of 5 5 of 5, on the reverse side of the tag. Do not place any marks in the Entry Number sections.

  27. For The Classification Chair Verify that each entry in Section 12 consists of five individual scapes of different registered cultivars or different seedlings; they cannot be mixed together. 3 3 3 Verify that the class is designated properly (Class 1, registered cultivars; Class 2 seedlings) 3 3 Designate a distinct Entry Number for each entry/collection and mark it on both locations on each hang tag of each individual scape. Clearly identify the individual entry numbers in this section on the show table exactly as designated on the hang tags (Number 3, in this case)

  28. The Classification chair will need to have access to the AHS Database via the internet or purchase the CD Checklist*, available on the Member s Portal under Staging Accredited Shows

  29. Okay Exhibitors, its time to get those plants to the show!
