  1. Guidelines for foreign students

  2. Study plan Students must take ALL the exams in their study plan in order to graduate. There are both mandatory courses and elective courses (which need to be chosen by logging into Mi@Lumsa). Each year, approximately from September until the end of October, students will be allowed to edit the study course by logging into Mi@Lumsa.

  3. Exam sessions Academic Year October November December January February March 1 semester classes 2 sem- Holidays Winter session April May June July August September 2 semester classes Temporary closure Summer session Autumn s. Note: There are also extraordinary exam sessions reserved for students that meet certain criteria (e.g. out-of-course students).

  4. Exam reservation Booking exams is mandatory, otherwise the student will NOT be allowed to participate to the corresponding exams. Students can sign up for exams by logging into Mi@Lumsa OR via cell phone app UniLUMSA . Exam reservations can be made or canceled UNTIL 11:59 p.m. on the 4thday prior to the exam. Students will be allowed to register for the exam only after filling out the corresponding teaching evaluation questionnaire on Mi@Lumsa.

  5. Some exam rules (pt. 1/2) Students can take exams only during an exam session. Each exam session provides at least one call per exam. Students are free to choose to take an exam during any call and session to which they are allowed. Failing an exam does NOT prevent the student from participating in the following calls of the same session. Unexcused failure to show up for a booked exam will result in a ban from the next call. Students cannot retake exams they have already passed.

  6. Some exam rules (pt. 2/2) Students usually can take exams only after the end of the corresponding course, which means: from January for 1st semester disciplines; from June for 2nd semester disciplines and for annual disciplines. Some examination features may differ based on whether the student is considered attending or non-attending. The exam will be considered passed ONLY if it has been verbalised by the professor. Students always must show a document of identification.

  7. Graduation sessions Academic Year October November December January February March 1 semester classes 2 sem- Holidays Autumn session Winter se- April May June July August September 2 semester classes Temporary closure -ssion Summer session Note: There are also extraordinary graduation sessions reserved for students that meet certain criteria.

  8. Thesis title assignment (pt. 1/2) Before accessing the online completion procedure of the final paper/thesis assignment form (Mi@Lumsa), the undergraduate must already have agreed on the topic with their rapporteur/supervisor (the professor in charge of being the guarantor of the work done by the student). Upon completion of the online procedure, the student will have to wait for the approval of their rapporteur, communicated by e-mail. Also note that the final title of the thesis/paper is considered to be the one written on its own frontispiece.

  9. Thesis title assignment (pt. 2/2) Please note that title assignment approval MUST occur (at least): 4 months before the graduation session for the bachelor's degree; 6 months before the graduation session for the master's degree; 8 months before the graduation session for the single-cycle master's degree. Afterwards, the student can start to work on writing the final paper/thesis, keeping constantly in contact with their rapporteur and submitting the application for graduation within the deadlines set by the academic calendar.

  10. Graduation application (pt. 1/2) The final examination of master's degree programs consists of the public discussion and evaluation of a written dissertation (graduation thesis) on a topic related to a discipline in which the undergraduate has taken an examination. Before accessing the online graduation application process, the student must already have agreed on the topic and title of the final paper/thesis with the supervising professor and must have received online approval. Upon completion of the online process, the student should print out the graduation application, sign it by their own hand and place it online (Mi@Lumsa).

  11. Graduation application (pt. 2/2) The whole procedure must occur WITHIN the deadlines set by the academic calendar. Along with the graduation application, a payment of 136 will have to be made for the expenses related to the issuance of the graduation parchment and stamp. Note that the online system checks the regularity of the student's administrative position (payment of fees, valid year of enrollment, AlmaLaurea questionnaire completion ).

  12. Final thesis entry (pt. 1/2) Online insertion (Mi@Lumsa) of the final thesis by the student is allowed UNTIL 12:00 p.m. of the indicated deadline, while approval by the rapporteur by 11:59 p.m. of the same day. The deadline will be posted on the Lumsa website. For this reason, it is important that undergraduates deposit their final paper and/or thesis NOT on the last deadline day, but as soon as the approval of the rapporteur for online deposit has been received. Please note that, in order to be admitted to the graduation session, the student MUST have passed the last exam within the corresponding deadline for thesis submission.

  13. Final thesis entry (pt. 2/2) Approval or rejection of the final paper/thesis is communicated by the supervisor to the student via e-mail. If no e-mail arrives, the student is required to contact their supervisor promptly. An undergraduate student whose thesis has not been approved will NOT be allowed to enter the graduation session in any way. Undergraduates in master's and single-cycle master's degree programs are required to send the thesis to the co-rapporteur appointed by the Department Director exclusively by e-mail. This submission should be made only AFTER the online approval of the thesis by the supervisor/rapporteur.
