  3. WHAT IS THE INITIAL ONE-TIME BUY-IN? If funded, the School District Participation Fund will cover a portion of the one-time buy-in to the State s health plan. In some cases, districts may have to pay the cost above and beyond what is provided from the fund. Example 1 Example 2 Benefit Eligible Employees 49 FY23 One-time Buy-In $2,975 Benefit Eligible Employees 17 FY23 One-time Buy-In $2,975 x = $145,775 x = $50,575 Support Units 33 Participation Funding $4,500 Support Units 10.25 Participation Funding $4,500 x = $148,500 x = $46,125 District Owes -$2,725 District Owes $4,450 You may not access these funds for any other purpose than to join the State s health plan 3

  4. WHAT ARE THE MONTHLY PREMIUM COSTS? Premiums are updated each June for July s coverage. You have two options: #1 Pay for all benefit eligible employees every month ($12,500 annually) Premiums are remitted to OGI by the 5th of the month following when they were collected. OGI does not send invoices. Districts will remit a deduction register with an EFT. #2 Pay for only those enrolled every month ($13,642.04 annually) Premiums also cover OGI admin fee 4

  5. WHAT ABOUT ELIGIBILITY FOR BENEFITS? The school district can determine which employees are eligible for health care benefits. You are NOT required to make all employees 20+ hours benefit eligible to participate in our plan. Eligible employees will then be defined as either Full Time / Tier 1, or Part Time / Tier 2. Premiums will be due according to the tier designation. 5

  6. WHAT ABOUT OUR RETIREES? If the retiree was hired before June 30, 2009, and under age 65, they are eligible to join our group retiree plan. https://ogi.idaho.gov/retiree/ Retirees can use sick leave to pay for the group retiree plan, if eligible, or a variety of other coverages approved by OGI including medical, dental, long- term care, and/or Medicare Advantage/Part D/Supplement plans. https://ogi.idaho.gov/retiree/using-sick-leave/ Joining the State s health plan will not cap the amount of sick leave that district employees can transfer to PERSI 6

  7. IF WE JOIN, HOW LONG ARE WE LOCKED IN? If you join the State s health plan, you are required to participate for at least five (5) years. 7
