  4. Important Reminders: You must pay your fees or make payment arrangements with Student Accounts by 4:00 pm on Friday, August 23, 2019. If you do not, you will be removed from your classes. Please remember to check your PNW email daily. All important information will be sent to your Purdue Northwest email account.

Courses and Advising Academic program (program of study) can assist you with registration and advising the graduate coordinator or faculty advisor can identify which classes are on your degree plan Self-register through myPNW but make sure the courses you sign up for will count toward your degree (plan of study)

Student IDs A government-issued photo ID and class schedule are needed to obtain a student ID Your PNW undergrad ID is still valid if you become a graduate student SUL 101 for non-staff grad students If you have a graduate staff position, you will need to get your ID through University Facilities UNSV 20 for grad student staff IDs

  13. Student Logins Single sign-in through myPNW on the home page (myPNW = portal) Your username is also known as your Purdue Career Account name It is also your Blackboard username

  14. Single Sign-On After choosing MyPNW, you will see the Purdue login screen, asking for your Career Account information

  15. Student Logins You have received an admissions email from PNW, welcoming you to the University You also received a second email from PNW with information about usernames and authentication procedures Help with passwords is available on the myPNW login page (Click on Forgot your password? )

  16. Student Email University communications are sent to you through your University email - official method of communications (careeraccountname@pnw.edu) Check your email often - information about research award opportunities, registration, events, and deadlines for graduation Class emails also go to your university email address (Blackboard Learn or MyCourses)

  17. Student Email Information about your Gmail account Gmail (student email) can be accessed through myPNW

Financial Aid and Funding Lawshe Hall, Room 130 (Enrollment Services) Phone: 989-2301 (or website) finaid@pnw.edu Graduate financial aid/support generally involves scholarships from specific sources, loans, or graduate staff and student worker positions. Your employer may also offer tuition reimbursement as a benefit.

Graduate Staff Positions Offered around campus for teaching, research or other campus functions Fee remission provides tuition remission (except for flat amount and fees) and small stipend .25 FTE grad staff position = 10 hrs. work/week Competitive: PNW does not offer graduate staff positions to all students; start with your home department for information about available positions

Plans of StudyDegree-Seeking Graduate education is controlled by a plan of study or degree requirements which set out which courses you will take to earn your degree, along with any other requirements for graduation/degree ePOS is the electronic Plan of Study system, and can be found through myPNW portal (Plan of Study Generator) on the Graduate School tab

Plans of Study ePOS will be available to new students after about 1 semester of enrollment ePOS instructions are available on the websites and academic programs also have additional information available. Credit hours required for your program vary by degree Thesis, non-thesis, coursework-based

  22. Academic Expectations Graduate students are expected to maintain a B (3.0/4.0) cumulative graduate GPA Must have a 3.0 average to graduate Some programs do not allow C grades on plans of study; some do allow 1-2 C grades If you do have C grades, you will need to offset those with A work to maintain 3.0 GPA

  23. Library Resources It is strongly suggested that you make an appointment with a librarian to learn about the resources that are available to you at the library for your graduate level studies. Many sources are available on line, or through interlibrary loan PNW Library

  24. Writing Resources Online writing lab: Purdue OWL, at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/ PNW Writing Lab on Hammond campus: Writing Center, CLO Room 265. Please check the Writing Center Website for hours.

  25. Additional Writing Resources Writing resources can also be found on the website for the Writing Center Citation Management or Reference Management Software (e.g. EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley) either free or purchased may be helpful to you in your studies Investigate the usefulness of the software and start using early in your studies

  29. Parking Students may park in open lots and the parking garage Gated lots are for employees and require a pass Some posted faculty/staff spots are open to students after 4:30pm

  30. PNW Inter-Campus Bus Service PNW offers bus transportation between our two campuses. Two ADA- compliant, 24-passenger buses will depart and travel concurrently non-stop from each campus, proceeding back and forth six times daily (Monday Friday). Each campus-to-campus trip is scheduled to take one hour or less. Departure from each campus (Hammond-Lawshe Hall & Westville-DSAC) will occur every 2 hours as follows: 7:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, and 5:15pm. The final daily arrival at each campus is expected between 6:00pm and 6:15pm. Students, faculty and staff members may ride the Inter-Campus Bus Service at no charge by displaying their university ID card. Service to the Portage Meeting Facility, for meetings and events, will be provided to and from the site by request only. Visit www.pnw.edu/inter-campus-bus for the service schedule.

  33. Student Health Center The LaPorte Physician Nework is located on the Westville Campus. Dworkin Student Services & Activities Complex (Athletic Center Entrance) Pricing for office visits and services, along with clinic hours, are on the website

  34. Counseling Center The Center is located in Gyte 005 in Hammond and TECH 101 at Westville More information about the Counseling Center at http://www.pnw.edu/counseling/ Assistance and support with academic, career, personal and interpersonal issues available Confidential

  39. International Student Orientation Mandatory for International Students Wednesday, August 14, 2019 GYTE 107 8:00am 3:00pm See the Office of Global Engagement for more information. CLO 176; (219) 989-2502; All international graduate students must submit proof of health insurance coverage to the Graduate Studies office. It is mandatory.
