Established in 2017, the CaucRIN Network focuses on forest and agricultural land use changes in the Caucasus region. Co-led by Giorgi Ghambashidze and Volker Radeloff, the network aims to address challenges such as forest degradation and changes in pastures and agriculture. With participants from various countries and strong representation from agencies, universities, and NGOs, CaucRIN is actively working towards a joint understanding of land cover and usage in the region. Despite critical political issues and the need to build a regional leadership team, CaucRIN's collaborative efforts show promise for the future monitoring and management of this ecologically diverse area.
