God's Communication with Humanity
God communicates with physical humans in various ways, including through the Bible as the ultimate source of truth. From speaking through early Fathers and Prophets to revealing spiritual truths and expectations, God's communication has evolved to speaking through Jesus, His Son, who walked the earth among us. The mission of Jesus was threefold: to teach spiritual truths, model a holy life, and restore our broken relationship with the Creator. Through the Apostles and the Bible, we have a record of God's evolving relationship with humankind, described in the 66 books of the Bible that span different dispensations and time periods.

How can God, Spirit, communicate with physical humans? o Short Answer: Any way He wants to He is the Creator In this 2nd Pillar of Truth, we are going to learn how God has o Spoken to us Through The Bible: The Source of all Truth God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world (Heb 1:1-2) Pillar 2 R. Not surprisingly, God has maintained contact with humanity o 1st speaking through early Fathers & Prophets o To Reveal: Spiritual truths God s expectations How to be Holy Then in these last days, God has spoken through Jesus o The Son of God - Agent of creation (John 1:1-14) o Who became flesh/blood (Phil 2:5-8) o Walked the earth among us some 2000 years ago Pillar 2 R. The mission of Jesus was threefold: it was to o Teach us spiritual truths God wanted us to know o Model a perfect, holy life giving us an example to follow o Restore our broken relationship with the Creator To help spread God s Word, Jesus chose 12 Apostles o Men were miraculously guided by God s Spirit, the Holy Spirit o Given special powers & authority to act on God s behalf Not only did they preach the Word o They wrote letters (epistles) to the 1st century Christians Pillar 2 R. Today Have record of their preaching & teaching in the Bible o It is found among 27 letters/books of the New Testament The historical accounts of the Patriarchs & Prophets o Have been preserved in the 39 Old Testament books Taken together these 66 books of the Bible o Describe the nature of God s evolving relationship with humankind Pillar 2 R. Bible History can be broken into 3 dispensations/time periods o Patriarchal Age: Fathers Adam, Noah, Abraham (Promise) Make Abraham great nation & bless all families of earth Genesis 1 Exodus 20 o Mosaic Age: Israel chosen nation to fulfill Abraham s promise God s Law given to Jewish people through Moses Law & Israel s history described Exodus 20 - Malachi o Christian Age: Jesus born as the Christ/Messiah/Annointed Fulfilling God s promise as the seed of Abraham Redeeming Humankind & Establishing Church/Kingdom Matthew Revelation Pillar 2 R. How do we know Bible is truly inspired by God (His revelation) Many reasons/proofs for believing Bible is from God 1) It claims to be so inspired by God Himself All Scripture is inspired by God (2 Tim 3:16) Confident declaration invites scrutiny lightning rod Bible Has survived the challenge for 2000 years 2) Its amazing unity 66 books, 40+ diverse authors, spanning 1500-1600 years 3 different languages, no conflicts, consistent message Unity: Theme, Content/Plan, Doctrine, Harmony Pillar 2 R. Through the writings of the Bible o God has revealed Himself once for all to humankind contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints (Jude 3) Bible Provides us with everything we need to know about Reality: Physical & Spiritual truths of life God has equipped us for success All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work (2 Tim 3:16-17) Pillar 2 R. As the Creator/Designer, God alone is positioned to teach us o How to live a fulfilling, wholesome, holy life Pleasing the Creator Securing a future in Heaven with Him To fulfill that hope, however, we must first overcome The Problem of Sin o That is the subject of the 3rd Pillar of Truth Pillar 2 R.
