Hosted in Bologna, the Future Collider Software Workshop aims to discuss the need for a common software framework across different experiments at future colliders. The workshop addresses the challenges of adapting to new processors and detector geometries and explores the possibility of a common event data model. Practical details like Wi-Fi access and dinner arrangements are also shared.

  1. Bologna 12-13/06/2019 Future Collider Software Workshop Paolo Giacomelli INFN Bologna 1

  2. Motivations of the workshop Disclaimer I am NOT a software expert Why was it me to call this meeting In a few recent occasions, like the last AIDA-2020 annual week in Oxford and the FCC-ee physics meeting in January, the issue of a common software framework (or stack) for different experiments at future colliders has been briefly discussed In general, there was a large consensus that it was an interesting issue to pursue There are several collider projects on the table, none of them approved yet, and having a flexible framework could be a very reasonable idea 2

  3. Motivations of the workshop A common software framework would have to be versatile as to encompass the different needs of the various experiments It should take into account the use of new processors (parallel processing, GPUs, FPGAs, etc.) It should allow to simply define different detector geometries Could we have a common event data model? We are here to discuss these things and more and possibly come out of the workshop with a working plan on how to develop together a common solution 3

  4. Some practical things Wi-Fi Eduroam should be available and accessible INFN-dot1x is available (for INFN users) If you haven t signed for the dinner and would like to come NOW is the last time to say so Dinner will be at Ristorante La Capriata, Strada Maggiore 19, Corte Isolani 1/e, at 20:30 The restaurant is a few steps away from Piazza Santo Stefano, in the very heart of Bologna 4

  5. Dinner Ristorante La Capriata Strada Maggiore 19, Corte Isolani 1/e at 20:30 5
