When you arrive Upon arriving to class please get an apron, goggles and two plastic gloves. Please make sure long hair is tied back. Once this is done please sit in a group. Groups should be three to four students. Please choose someone you can work with effectively.
Using tools Please be careful with dissecting scissors. They can be sharp, you do not want to cut yourself or others. Please follow all directions
Cutting into a frog Pull both arms hard (pop them out of the sockets) this gets the arms out of the way. We are not using pins Cut horizontally at the bottom of the stomach Cut vertically down the center of the chest (cut the top layer of skin) Cut vertically down the center of the chest again. Cut through ribcage (you may need to apply pressure) Pull skin back to expose organs.
Exploratory Take a look at the organs Use the mat to try to identify the different organs Try and discuss the functions of different organs If you choose you may open other parts of the frog (this is on you I do not help)
Clean up Follow directions Throw out frog and tray, do not throw out the tools. Wipe down frog mats and table Take off apron, wipe down and fold Throw out gloves Put away goggles Take soap to the bathroom an wash hands thoroughly.
