When learning new French words, remember these basic
pronunciation tips:
The last consonant is usually not pronounced. But some –
such as C, R, F, L –
are
 pronounced. So be
C
a
R
e
F
u
L
!
If a word is long, break it into syllables, and give each syllable
the same amount of stress.
The French R sound comes from the back of your throat.
Try to sound French, just like the people you hear on the CD
that comes with your book!
Even if you are not sure of the pronunciation of a new word,
always try to say it with a French accent: it will sound a lot
better!
