  3. The start of something wonderful by making lasting memories What are your fondest memories of fieldwork you ve had as a pupil or a teacher?

  4. Twitter responses Being with an A level group doing river fieldwork where they were filming "The Holiday" with Jude Law and Cameron Diaz. When Jude waved at them some of the girls almost passed out! @nicklapthorn

  5. Twitter responses The aurora started kicking off one evening at our accommodation outside Inverness, so we made the collective decision to abandon work and went out to watch them! It was much more memorable than processing soil data! @EmmaEarth

  6. Twitter responses Went to our usual cliff top spot to sketch a headland & found topless sunbathers on the beach below. Every single student included them in their sketch! @GeogMum We used to take Year 8 to Southend every year to look at tourism and coasts. I remember one year taking a girl who had never seen the sea before (we lived an hour away) and her face lit up as we went down to the beach. @thegeogfrog Sixth form fieldwork, staying at Blencathra in 1988 unexpected snowfall saw us sledging down the fell in our waterproofs! @NotJust4Xmas Taking pupils to Whitby and them whooping, shouting and waving at me from the top of the sightseeing bus when they should have been mapping land use. @NotJust4Xmas We took GCSE students to a river valley and had given all of the warnings about wildlife etc... but a girl fed a Wotsit to a sheep at lunch. Cue 30 minutes of several sheep chasing the group down the valley and lots of shrieking teenagers. @MrsLauraRidley Naked photo shoot at Durdle Door!!! Boys found it a memorable trip! @pgabrielle18
