  1. Journey Home Really? Rejection Of Bible Authority Indoctrination Through Human Education Emotionalism

  2. Journey Home Really? Definition: Emotion- A moving of the mind or soul; excitement of the feelings, whether pleasing or painful; disturbance or agitation of mind caused by a specific exciting cause and manifested by some sensible effect on the body Emotionalism- a doctrine stressing the value of deeply felt responses in ethics and the arts... With many, the appeal to reason-based emotion, which Bible demands, is very unappealing, inadequate and insufficient to meet their desires who are seek a god instead of the true and living God. Hence emotionalism that is incompatible to Christianity serves as the source of the very religion they claim to seek.

  3. Journey Home Really? Emotions are God Given I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. (Psa 139:14 15 KJV) And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: (Acts 17:26 27 KJV)

  4. Journey Home Really? Emotions are God Given Feel is used 7 times KJV only two deal with the emotions (Psa 58:9; Acts 17:27) the others are empirical in meaning (sense of touch) This seemed to be a another factor why these individuals left the Lord s people. I would not classify them as charismatic, however that does not negate their appeal to emotionalism. How? Emotions must be fact based Jacob (Gen 37:33) Naaman (2 Kin 5:12) Paul (Acts 23:1; 24:16)...

  5. Journey Home Really? Emotions are God Given These individuals seemed very satisfied with the Catholic faiths adherence to it s own faith, in area s such as baptism (of course the Catholic practice of sprinkling is foreign to New Testament Scripture (note instances in which the word is used in the New Testament) (1 Peter 1:2; Heb 9:13; 12:24 [all are derived from the word - rhantis) to sprinkle Cf (Heb 9:13) In (Heb 11:28) [proschusis] the idea is more of the pouring The meaning of sprinkling as concerning the New Covenant

  6. And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure. (Heb 10:21 22 KJV)

  7. Journey Home Really? Emotionalism Is Not God iven Emotionalism is self-centered not God- centered This emotional appeal seems most evident in the area of worship. One stated when it came to Mary that Catholicism brought her closer to The beloved Mother as she prayed to her! Most however stated that their understanding of the Eucharist gave them a better appreciation for the death and suffering of Christ as well as helped them to experience his death in a real and more significant way!

  8. Journey Home Really? Emotionalism Is Not God Given We are told and commanded to remember His death not experience it! (1 Cor 11:23). Paul bases this command on facts not emotions! It is not an emotions appeal but a conscientious one Cf (Heb 10:19-31) It s a fellowship (1 Cor 10:16-17 Cf 11:17- 20) It s a remembrance (vs 23-25) It s a proclamation (vs 26) It s an examination (vs 27-29) The issues with the Corinthians was that they were endearing to make an experience (vs 21-22)

  9. Journey Home Really? Emotionalism Is Not God Given Transubstantiation- the miraculous change by which according to Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox dogma the eucharistic elements at their consecration become the body and blood of Christ while keeping only the appearances of bread and wine The prophets of Baal (1 Kin 18:21-29) We too must be careful!!!

  10. Colossians 2:18-3:17
