What are festivals? Festivals are events. There are many different kinds of festivals: music festivals, film festivals, traditional festivals...
When do festivals take place? Festivals take place in a certain month. Festivals can be annual. It means they take place once in a year. If festivals are biannual they take place once in two years.
Who takes part in festivals? A lot of people take part in festivals. There are organizers, visitors, musical bands... People who take part/participate in a festival are participants.
What happens at festivals? There is usually a parade. Also sometimes there are races or competitions. There can be concerts on different stages or workshops, too. People can usually buy food and drinks at a festival. A festival starts with an opening ceremony and ends with a closing ceremony. Sometimes people get awards at festivals.
What are the names of some famous festivals? There is the Carnival in Rio, in Brazil. Octoberfest is a traditional folk festival in Germany. St Patrick`s day is an Irish festival which takes place in Dublin and other cities. There are many other festivals in Asian countries such as the festival of colours or a festival of light/lanterns. Also there are snow festivals.
