What do students say about AP Human Geography? (Answers provided by actual AP Human Geography students)
If you had to put Human Geography into words, what would you say? ...learning about the different current issues in the world, different cultures, and just altogether what goes on in the world outside of your own bubble. Taking AP Human Geo has definitely helped me gain a better perspective on not only the physical geography of the world, but also the people and cultures within it. Had it not been for this class, I would have no idea what kind of struggles other nations are facing because we are always so focused on our own domestic issues. Whether it's learning about the exploitation of farmers in Africa, or Taiwan's fight to be its own independent state, I grew my awareness about world affairs every single day in this class and I feel that I am a better student because of it Human geography is the interconnected study of the progression of people, culture, and the landscape. Human geography is the most interesting class you didn t know you needed
Why should I take this class? Human geography is a great intro AP class! It builds the foundation of your AP writing skills and introduces you to timed MC and FRQ test portions. You should take Human Geography because it will teach you so many interesting facts about the world and your place in it. It s a great class to see how AP feels, and the content you learn is universally applicable Human Geography is the most interesting class I have ever taken. It opened my eyes to many different things and has forced me to think. I think this class has made me become a better person due to the knowledge I have gained from learning about the world and people. I highly recommend that you consider taking this class, you will not regret it!
What was your favorite part about the class? So far, my favorite part of Human Geo has been learning about population. It is so interesting how so many things can alter the population of a country. Specifically, how there is a domino effect with the progressing world which leads to all aspects of Human Geo Favorite part was definitely learning about different types of maps and ways of displaying data My favorite part of AP Human Geo was definitely the Agriculture unit mostly because I feel that I am able to use the knowledge I gained from this unit in my everyday life more than any other outcome. Just the fact that I reference Von Thunen's Model quite often shows that I definitely remember this unit the most, which is pretty helpful when you live in Illinois. And I believe this was also the outcome where we got to spend the whole class trying different kinds of chocolates and deciding which one was the best which was also a highlight! My favorite part of Human Geography so far has been the ability to learn so much about places and cultures I won't get to experience in my life. This class really teaches you a lot about humans and how we interact with each other and our surroundings. In the agriculture unit, we were given chocolates to try from a variety of brands. We learned about the history of the Ivory Coast while describing the chocolate using our senses and having fun! It is one of my favorite memories from that class! I also really enjoy how the teacher balances the lessons with interesting activities!
