Learning outcomes After completing this lesson, we will be able to prepare for the annual examination
1. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 Why are you looking so happy? Dipa said to Rupali. My brother sent a mobile phone for me yesterday , replied Rupali. Butwhat s the use of it to you? I think it is a mere wastage of money? said Dipa. No. I can communicate with others in the shortest possible time, said Rupali.
Answer: 1 Answer: 1 Dipa asked Rupali why she (R) was looking so happy. Rupali replied that her (R) brother had sent a mobile phone for her (R) the previous day. Then Dipa asked her what the use of it was to her. Dipa thought that it was a mere wastage of money. The guardian said, We, all the guardians along with you must do something for the betterment of our children. Answer: 2 The guardian politely asked the Headmaster if he (g) might go in. The Headmaster replied in the affirmative and requested him (g) to go in. The guardian said that they, all the guardians along with him (H) had to do something for the betterment of their children. He (g) also said that they were losing their morality. The Headmaster suggested that they should plan something for their betterment.
3. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 The patient said, What a pain in my stomach! The doctor examined her and said. You have been suffering from constipation. The patient said, What can I do? Take the prescribed medicine, said the doctor. May you recover soon.
Answer: 3 The patient said exclaimed that there had a great pain in her stomach. The doctor examined her and told that she had been suffering from constipation. The patient asked what she could do. The doctor advised her to take the prescribed medicine. He further wished that she might recover soon.
4. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 Mina said to Rina, When does your Test Examination commence? It commence on 9 November, said she. You Test Examination is knocking at the door and you don t have a lot of time. said Mina You reright, said Rina. AndI m learning my lessons with profound attention.
Answer: 4 Mina asked Rina when her Test Examination commenced. She replied that it commenced on 9 November. Mina told that her Test Examination was knocking at the door and she did not have a lot of time. Rina told that she was right. And she added that she was learning her lessons with profound attention.
5. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 One day a hare said to a tortoise, I grieve for your speed. How can you walk with such a heavy shell on your back? You need not worry friend, hare, said the tortoise. If you like, I will run a race with you. the hare sneered, Do you want to run a race? Very well, I am ready. I accept your challenge.
Answer: 5 One day a hare told a tortoise that he grieved for his speed. He further asked how he could walk with such a heavy shell on his back. Addressing the hare as friend, the tortoise replied that he did not need to worry. He added that if he liked, he would run a race with him. The hare sneered and asked if he wanted to run a race. He told that it was well and he was ready to accept his challenge.
6. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 What s your programme after the examination? asked Hira. Mira said, I ve not decided. Can you suggest any? Let us go on a picnic, said Hira. What an excellent idea it is! said Mira.
Answer: 6 Hira asked Mira what s her programme after the examination. Mira replied that she had not decided. She further asked it she could suggest any. Hira proposed that they should go on a picnic. Mira exclaimed with joy that it was a very excellent idea.
7. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 May I come in, sir? a boy standing at the door said to him. Then without waiting for his reply the boy entered the room and said. Sir, I have come from Palshpur with this letter from Mr. Ajit Bose. Ajit Bose? How is he? he said smiling. He is not well. He has been suffering from a serious illness for two years, the boy said. How sad it is! May god cure him soon, said he.
Answer: 7 Standing at the door, the boy respectfully asked him if he might go in. Then without waiting for his reply the boy entered the room and respectfully told that he had gone from Palshpur with that letter from Mr. Ajit Bose. Being surprised, he smilingly asked if it was Ajit Bose and how he was. The boy replied that he was not well. He added that he had been suffering from a serious illness for two years. He exclaimed that it was very sad. He also wished that God might cure him soon.
8. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 Good morning, Evan, said Badhan. How much preparation have you taken for the ensuing text examination? A great preparation, replied he. I must get GPA-5. Wow, what a lucky boy! said Badhan. But my preparation is not so good.
Answer: 8 Badhan wished Evan good morning. He further asked how much preparation he had taken for the ensuing text examination. He replied that he had taken a great preparation. He added that he had to get GPA-5. Badhan exclaimed with joy that he was a very lucky boy. He added that but his preparation was not so good.
9. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 Good morning, students, said the teacher, How are you? Fine, sir. What about you? I m fine too. Please sit down. Have you prepared your lesson? The teacher asked. Sorry, sir, we were a little bit busy with our practical classes, they replied.
Answer: 9 The teacher wished the students good morning and asked how they were. The students respectfully replied that they were fine and asked how he was. The teacher told that he was fine too. He politely told them to sit down. The teacher asked it they had prepared their lesson. They respectfully replied that they were sorry because they had been a little bit busy with their practical classes.
10. Change the narrative style of the following text. 5 Bina said to Belal, Happy birthday to your. You are looking very smart. Thanks for your appreciation, said Belal. Where is Bely? won t she come? Sorry, she has gone to hospital with her father, she replied. He fell on the road and lost sense, said Bina. Let s go to the hospital, said Belal.
Answer: 10 Bina wished Belal a happy birthday to him. She added that he was looking very smart. Belal thanked her for her appreciation. Belal asked where Bely was. He further asked if she would not go. She replied with regret that she had gone to hospital with her father. She added that he had fallen on the road and lost sense. Belal proposed that they should go to the hospital.
