  4. What does a Safety Patrol do? 1. Model 6 Pillars of Character every day, in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, at ACE, on buses -. EVERYWHERE 2. Act in a safe way and help other students and staff be safe. 3. Stay current on all your school work and homework assignments ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST!

  5. But what do they DO? *Welcome everyone! *Help everyone have a good morning! *Open car doors for car riders. *Hold doors open for students and staff. *Help new students find their classrooms. *Monitor hallways in PVPV Building. *Ambassador program for new students arriving mid- year.

  6. HOW DO I APPLY? COMPLETE ALL PARTS OF THE APPLICATION AND TURN IT IN ON TIME. 1. Application cover sheet with parent/applicant signature 2. Application paragraph 3. Classroom teacher recommendation 4. Resource teacher recommendation 5. If you are in ACE you must have an ACE recommendation

  13. WHAT WOULD KEEP ME FROM BECOMING A SAFETY PATROL? 1. Application not turned in on time or incomplete 2. Unable to be at your post in the morning at 8:00 a.m. and stay at afternoon post until 3:05 p.m. 3. Number of applicants not everyone will be able to be selected!

  16. News Team Is a group of students that records/films the morning news show.

  17. This is not for the entire school year. You are only in the studio for about 3 6 weeks.

  18. Who should apply: Students that: Are NOT shy and afraid to be in front of the camera! Speak loud, speak clearly and slow Have a great PERSONALITY! can READ at 4th grade or higher level!!!

  19. To apply for TV Production you must do 2 things: PowerPoint Video

  20. PowerPoint (3 5 slides) You must include: Slide 1 Slide 2 - What makes you a good student to be on TV Production/News Team? Why should I select you? Slide 3 - Tell me about any video/technology experience that you have. Slides 4 & 5 More interesting facts about yourself. Your Name Your Teacher s Name A photo of yourself ***Bonus Points are awarded if you include background colors, special fonts, transitions and special effects in your PowerPoint!

  21. Video Film yourself reading a script and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. (script will be in application) You can earn BONUS POINTS if you add your own news worthy information to your video to make it interesting. The VIDEO MUST NOT BE LONGER THAN 3 MINUTES!!! It is OK to get your parents, friends or siblings to help with the video.

  28. WHAT WOULD KEEP ME FROM MAKING NEWS TEAM? 1. PowerPoint and Video was not turned in on time or it was incomplete 2. Unable to be in the media center at 8:00 a.m. in the morning of your assigned weeks 3. Number of applicants not everyone will be able to be selected!

  29. Students selected will be assigned to a team color. Each team will have 4 students on the team. The team will be in the studio for about 3 weeks.

  30. Students not selected will be placed on a waiting list.

  31. Applications are due on April 13th April 13th.

  32. Announcement of Teams will be on April 29th. We will send a letter home.
