Resuming classroom activities during Covid-19 requires physical space adjustments, proper cleaning protocols, and online/hybrid instruction methods. Consider safety measures like maximizing distance, using gaffer tape, providing sanitizer, and designated entrances/exits. Online tools and pedagogical considerations play a significant role in engaging students effectively and promoting a positive learning environment through mindfulness practices, allowing student connections, and embracing diverse teaching strategies.

  4. Pedagogical Considerations Tuning Recruiting Sizing / Distribution https://www.veritas-online.com/sizingchart Preparation Instruction - ASTA Curriculum String Curriculum Parental Involvement Curriculum Diversify

  5. Engaging and Supporting Students 1. ENCOURAGE MINDFULNESS Restorative practices promote relationship building, problem solving, and conflict resolution, contributing to a positive school climate. Provide breaks in class for mindfulness exercises, such as guided deep-breathing or meditation. Create a section in your LMS for mindfulness and other wellness; readings, exercises, guided meditations. Create a discussion board where students can express feelings/gratitude and provide support for one another (additional materials on ASTA website)

  6. Engaging and Supporting Students: 2. ALLOW STUDENTS TO MAKE CONNECTIONS Relationships are primary for any meaningful teaching and learning to occur. Give opportunities to connect with you, with the music, and with each other. Honor student voices, Give them choices. Give up control and allow students to make musical and classroom decisions. Reflection: The process is just as important as the product and can help unpack creativity, self-awareness, self-assessment, and goal setting.

  7. Engaging and Supporting Students: 3. ENCOURAGE SELF-REGULATION Help students navigate their learning independently. Provide students with specific goals; over time, help them learn to set their own goals. Include informal activities in their practice list, such as improvising or playing by ear. Encourage a regular routine. Model metacognition -- problem solving in the music, etc. Have students self-evaluate and reflect on their performances. Design a fun assignment: Have students create and manage their physical practice environment. Involve parents in the learning process.
