  2. DEFINE THE FOLLOWING CONCEPTS: EXPLAIN THE MEANING OF LEARNING AND TEACHING SUPPORT MATERIALS. DESCRIBE THE FUNCTION OF LEARNING AND TEACHING SUPPORT MATERIAL. TYPES OF LEARNING AND TEACHINGSUPPORT MATERIALS

MEDIATION OF LEARNING THROUGH LEARNING AND TEACHING SUPPORT MATERIALS Means that teaching involves the three components, of which are the following: The educator who interprets the content and provide all the necessary supporting materials, that will invite and encourage learners to become involved in the learning process. To present the real world more meaningfully to the learner. The content should be accessible and appropriate to the learners based on their experiences, backgrounds, various cultures, skills and developmental stages. Learner should come into direct contact with the content and construct knowledge through social interactions with others and through enriched environments that are full of activities, materials and tools, in order to allow them to test, explore and discover through a play, learning activities and projects.

  4. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT LEARNING ENVIRONMENT SHOULD CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING: 1. SHELVES AND STORAGE FACILITIES CAN SERVE AS DIVIDERS AND ALSO AS EQUIPMENT WHERE MATERIALS CAN BE STORED. EDUCATORS CAN ALSO EASILY OBSERVE WHAT HAPPENS IN EACH CLASSROOM AREA. 2. HOUSEKEEPING CORNER WHERE ALL THE DRESS-UP CLOTHES FOR DRAMATIC PLAY, COULD BE STORED AT A NEARBY AND EASILY ACCESIBLE PLACE.

  5. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT CONTINUATION .. 3. THE BOOK CORNER SHOULD BE A QUIET AREA WITH LOW TABLES, CHAIRS AND SHELVES, INCLUDING CUSHIONS FOR CHILDREN `S COMFORT. 4. LOCKERS AND SHELVES FOR CHILDREN`S BELONGINGS SHOULD BE PLACED CLOSER TO THE DOORS FOR PARENTS TO EASILY ACCESS THEM WHEN COLLECTING THEIR CHILDREN. 5. TOYS SHOULD BE STORED CLOSER TO WHERE THEY WILL BE USED.

  6. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT CONTINUATION 6. BLOCK BUILDING AREA SHOULD BE PLACED OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID KNOCKING THEM OVER. 7. OUTSIDE AREA WATER SHOULD BE AVAILED OR EASILY ACCESSIBLE TO WET THE SAND, WASH OFF PAINT AND FOR DRINKING. PROPER STORAGE FOR GARDENING, CARPENTRY, BEAN BAGS, CYCLES, WATER AND SAND TOOLS SHOULD BE AVAILED. 8. THE OUTER SPACE SHOULD BE ENLARGED TO AVOID BUMPING INTO ONE ANOTHER WHEN JUMPING, RUNNING OR SWINGING ETC. SCHEDULES FOR OUTSIDE PLAY SHOULD BE MADE TO AVOID OVERCROWDING AND ENOUGH EQUIPMENT SUCH AS SLIDES, SWINGS, SHOULD BE AVAILED.

CLASSROOM BULLETINS, FUNNEL OR FELT BOARDS, CHARTS, PUPPETS AND TV PROGRAMS COULD BE USED AS A VARIETY IN THE CLASSROOM, FOR SIMPLICITY AND CLARITYIN ORDER TO HELP SUPPORT AND MOTIVATE LEARNERS TO COMPARE, USE KEY WORDS, DESIGN, COUNT, USE SPELLING AND GRAMMER, PAINTING AND DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN COLOURS. 2. ART ACTIVITIES VARIETY OF PAINTS AND LIQUIDS, PENS, CHALK, SIZES, COTTON WOOL, LEAVES, STRAWS, CRAYONS, TOOTHPICKS, BEADS, STRINGS . PAPER IN DIFFERENT COLOURS, SHAPES, SIZES AND TEXTURES . THERE SHOULD BE WATER SUPPLY NEARBY FOR CHILDREN TO MIX AND WASH. RACKS WITH TOWELS AN D NEWS PAPER FOR CATCHING DRIPPING.

  9. TYPES OF LTSM CONTINUATION.. 3. SAND AND WATER PLAY SAND TRAYS CAN BE PROVIDED INDOORS OR OUTDOORS. SHOULD BE FILLEED WITH CARS, ANIMALS, SHOVELS, SMALL POTS ETC. BUT SHOULD BE REGULARLY STERILISED WITH SALT. 4. BLOCK CONSTRUCTION PROVIDE A VARIETY OF BLOCKS IN DIFFERENT SHAPES , LENGTHS, THICKNESS, HEIGHT AND COLOURS. HELPS CHILDREN TO DISCOVER HEIGHT, WEIGHT, CREATIVE THINKING AND CO-ORDINATION. LARGER BLOCKS CONTRIBUTE TO LARGE MOTOR SKILLS.

EGGS THAT HATCH SEASONS THAT CHANGE WEATHER TOPICS ANIMALS CAN BE KEPT AT SCHOOL TO ALLOW LEARNERS TO STUDY THEM. STUDENTS SHOULD DO AN IN-DEPTH VARIETY STUDY OF SCIENCE ACTIVITIES AND PRACTICAL WORK.

DRAMATIC PLAY AREA MATERIAL SHOULS BE AVAILED THAT ALLOWS DRAMATIC OR FANTACY PLAY SUCH AS THE FOLLOWING : CLOTHES, HANDBAGS, DIFFERENT ROLES CLOTHES LIKE ARMY, POLICE NURSE, DOCTOR, BUS DRIVER ETC. DIFFERENT FURNITURE AND MATERIAL LIKE TABLES, CHAIRS, TOWELS, MOPS, CUPS, SPOONS AND BANKS ETC.

MUSIC AREA MUSIC HELPS WITH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT CHILDREN SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN PLANNING MUSICAL ACTIVITIES PARENTS FROM VARIOUS CULTURAL GROUPS SHOULD BE INVITED TO COME AND EDUCATE CHILDREN TO SING AND DANCE VARIETY OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTSSHOULD ALSO BE AVAILED SUCH AS GLASS BOTTLES, DRUMS, SHAKERS, BELLS, RUBBER BANDS, ANIMAL SKINS, GUITARS, SEEDS ETC
