Phonic Sounds The link below will recap all the phonics sounds your child has already been taught in Phase 2 and phase 3. When your child sings the sound there is also an action to go with it. The clip is quite long so you might want to watch it in parts throughout the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s-1sxzjPX8
Tricky words Today you are going to play Tricky Words Snowballs to help you learn your tricky words. Choose 6 tricky words from the lists below. Write them down on separate pieces of paper and then screw the pieces of paper into balls, like snowballs . Try and hold all the balls and then throw them up in the air. Go to each ball in turn, open up the piece of paper and try to read the word.
High Frequency Word Recognition This week I will not be introducing anymore tricky words, we will though be looking at high frequency words . These are common words which children will come across lots when reading and writing so they should be able to recognise them by sight, rather than sound them out each time. I would suggest you make little flashcards over the week with the different words on so they are easy to practise. Today s High Frequency Words went too from help
Phonic Sounds Revision Click on the link below to play Buried Treasure on Phonics Play to recap the trigraph air . HTTPS://WWW.PHONICSPLAY.CO.UK/RESOURCES/PHASE/3/BURIED- TREASURE
Recapping Phase 3 sounds Today s sound we will be recapping is the trigraph air . On the next slides will be some pictures, all the words will have air in them. Click on the link below to see a little cartoon about the trigraph air . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZHKK9jnfFQ
Making Words Now the children have said the word it is important to make the word. Write the letter sounds , air, ch, h, b, r, u, sh, s, t, p on different shaped pieces of paper. Ask your child to say the sound for each letter as you write it to the shape. air t h sh r b u
Making Words Now look at each of the pictures again and say the word and sound out the word. When you sound out the word find the correct letters to make the word. You can also see what other words you can make by mixing the letters around. p air
Writing the words When writing words, letter formation is really important. Today s focus sound is air so first of all make sure your child is holding their pencil correctly and then practise forming the letters. Tips on the correct pencil grip, we encourage children to pinch and flick the pencil to make sure they are holding it correctly. Look at the pictures again, say the word, sound out the word and then get your child to try and write the word. Please use all lowercase letters.
Reading a sentence Encourage your child to read the sentence below using their knowledge of phonic sounds and tricky word recognition. Can you spy the words with today s new sound in? The hairbrush fell down the stairs.
