Encouragement in Suffering: Insights from 1 Peter

From Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ—
To God’s chosen people who live as
refugees scattered throughout . . .
May God’s grace and peace be
multiplied to you.
1 Peter 1:1 (NLT)
[you greatly rejoice that God has
given you a living hope] . . . though
now for a little while you may have
had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
1 Peter 1:6 (NIV)
These have come so that your faith—
of greater worth than gold, which
perishes even though refined by
fire—may be proved genuine and
may result in praise, glory and honor
when Jesus Christ is revealed.
1 Peter 1:7 (NIV)
Dear friends, do not be surprised at
the painful trial you are suffering, as
though something strange were
happening to you. But rejoice that you
participate in the sufferings of Christ,
so that you may be overjoyed when
his glory is revealed.
1 Peter 4:12-13 (NIV)
Your suffering will lead
to God’s glory if you. . .
Keep obeying Jesus
Keep your identity in Jesus
Keep loving like Jesus
Keep obeying Jesus
(It will purify you)
Keep your identity in Jesus
(It will position you)
Keep loving others like Jesus
(It will propel you)
But you are a chosen people, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, a people
belonging to God, that you may
declare to others the praises of him
who called you out of darkness into
his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
Your suffering will lead
to God’s glory if you. . .
