"But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also, with exceeding joy." MEMORY VERSE 1 Peter 4:13 TEXT: 1 Peter 4:12-19
INTRODUCTION Persecution is what a Christian goes through at the hands of sinful people because of believer s love for Jesus. It can come in various forms like unprovoked attack, abuse, ridicule, and jesting from sinful boys and girls. It could also be in form of withdrawal of things you are entitled to like food, clothes or even school fees, undeserved beating and punishment, threat to life and even death.
INTRODUCTION CONTD. There is a big difference between suffering for Christ and suffering for doing bad things. When you do bad things, you will suffer for it, all you must do is to repent. As friends of Jesus, God expects us to stand and endure persecution because there are great rewards awaiting us.

1.REASONS FOR PERSECUTION Peter 4:12-14; Matthew 5:12; 10:11-19 2 Timothy 3:12; The bible clearly states that friend of Jesus who live righteously must suffer persecution. THE REASONS ARE: The world in which we live is full of evil, wickedness and bad things. - The sinful darkness and hate light. people live in
The enemy which is Satan is always at war with friends of Jesus. He does not want them to get to heaven. Persecution serves as a test to show whether we truly love Jesus our Saviour. Jesus Christ suffered to set an example for us that we must follow his steps. The Christian life is a life built up through persecution, trials, endurance. Persecution helps strengthens the believer's faith. If you want to follow Jesus and receive your crown, you must endure to the end. 1. REASONS FOR PERSECUTION CONT D. temptations and to refine and

Joseph was made to suffer without doing evil because he stood for righteousness. In the days of the early church, there were terrible persecutions of the followers of Jesus. Stephen was the first to be stoned to death

Jesus Christ our Savior went through untold suffering in the hands of wicked people. He endured all the suffering and triumphed. He has also promised to be with us to help us to be victorious. Your own part is to endure as a Christian and stay with Jesus. Enduring persecution is one of the marks of a true friend of Jesus.
3. CHRISTIAN ATTITUDE DURING PERSECUTION: 1 Peter 2:19-23, 4:12-14; Matthew 5:10-12 Every Christian boy or girl will suffer persecution. You must put on a godly attitude that will enable you to endure. Endurance means ability, determination and grace to go through suffering without fighting back. Children who suffer because of their love for Jesus are blessed. They are partakers of the suffering of Jesus Christ
3. CHRISTIAN ATTITUDE DURING PERSECUTION CONT D. When suffering for Christ's sake Christian boy/girl must: i. Believe that God cares and rejoice whatever they are going through. ii. Trust in God and seek His face in fervent prayer. iii. Not pay back evil for evil but pray for the salvation of the persecutors. iv. Remain steadfast and strong in faith, believing that we shall receive eternal reward when we see Jesus at the end.

Such children must repent and seek for forgiveness and cleansing of these sins.
