WHO ARE WE? SHE In Energy Africa, is a non profit company which seeks to narrow gender disparities , address skills shortages and maximize socio-economic benefits by educating and empowering girls and women through skills development and training in the energy sector.
WHICH PART OF THE INDUSTRY DO WE REPRESENT? We represent skills development and training in the energy sector. We aspire to break the cycle of exclusion and vulnerability experienced by girls and women, often experienced in the male dominated sectors such as the energy sector.
WHICH PART OF THE INDUSTRY DO WE REPRESENT? Our Objectives are : Ensure that girls and women benefit from a full cycle of quality education in the energy sector. To empower girls and women with relevant knowledge and skills, thus skills development to create technologically adept manpower/labour force operating in the energy sector.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES EXISTS IN THAT INDUSTRY SEGMENT FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS The skills training and development sector holds the power to change South Africa s economic trajectory by promoting the inclusion of all demographic groups. Growing skills equates to growing small businesses, through public private development partnerships. Building a competent energy workforce will create jobs of extensive scope along with business opportunities in rural areas that are left wanting for clean energy and economic growth.
WHAT VALUE DO PROVIDE TO WOMEN IN ENERGY AND POWER? Research increasingly demonstrates the benefits of integrating gender considerations into the energy value chain and through the power sector. When the barriers that prevent women from having equal access to energy and economic opportunities are removed, , significant productivity gains are unlocked, thereby strengthening development and economic outcomes. Furthermore, women are transforming the energy sector in their roles as energy entrepreneurs, innovators and decision makers. And when you empower a woman, you empower a family, a community, and indeed a nation. Cherie Blair
