  1. POWER TO CHANGE Year 10 PBL ENGLISH & HSIE

  2. Welcome to your first PBL task for the year. This assessment is based on the learning you have and will complete this term. So far you have studied Geography Human Wellbeing across the globe History - Human Rights English Social Issues explored through Slam Poetry

  3. HOW CAN WE BE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD? Throughout the term you will be exposed to different examples of people who have worked to make a positive change in their world. These include: contemporary social issues discussed via slam poetry, human rights and human wellbeing issues across the globe.

  4. POWER TO CHANGE 3-4 per group Deliver a product in a 5- minute interactive session in front of an audience. Deliver a 3minute slam poem in your interactive session Products may include: Website Advertising campaign School resource Proposal/pitch

  5. SUPPORTING QUESTIONS What are our rights and responsibilities as citizens of a democratic society? What current issue do you want to stand against? Why is this issue such a problem? How does your product influence and transform society? How will your product improve the human experience? How can we combat pre-determined prejudices? How can advocacy, dissent and political activism play a role in the struggle for freedom and equality? How would the modern world be different if your product had existed in the past? What is the actionable component of your final product (evidence of campaign letter/posters etc)?

  6. PRODUCT PRESENTATION 1. Interactive session in front of an audience a. Groups of 3-4 b. 5 min presentation c. Slam poem must be worked into the presentation of your product d. Ensure the supporting questions are addressed. If they are not clearly addressed, expect the panel of assessors to ask additional questions after your interactive session

  9. DRAFTING/PLANNING It is important to produce drafts, revise and amend your ideas as you progress. In order to facilitate this, each group will be required to complete three planning checklists (Found on Google Classroom) where the teacher will give feedback and discuss your progress Planning/Drafting : Wk 8 Gallery Walk Activity to be completed in a GEO lesson week 8

  11. MARKING Task is out of 60 20 marks GEO 20 marks - HISTORY 20 marks - English Marks are awarded PER GROUP

  12. You will be asked to reflect on the contributions that you and other group members have made You need to honestly and maturely assess the group performance. The reflection asks you to consider three key areas: COLLABORATION COMMUNICATION TIME MANAGEMENT

  13. Remember this is a COLLABORATIVE TASK You should work with each other, bounce ideas off each other and give and receive feedback. Its not a task that you throw together the night before Good luck =)
