FACTS ABOUT ELECTRIC CARS

They are heavier than gasoline cars but less
noisy.
They are more expensive than a petrol and
diesel engine vehicles.
Anyos jedlik of Hungary built a small model of a
working electric car in 1828.

ADAVANTAGES

These vehicles use an electric motor so it is very quiet so
there is no smell and no pollution from exhaust gases. Oil
for gasoline and diesel is a limited resource it will not last
forever and is becoming more expensive. If the electricity
for a battery electric vehicle comes from a renewable
energy source like a windmill, solar cells, geothermal or
hydroelectric then it will not produce many global
warming gases.

DISADVANTAGES

Batteries do not store a lot of energy and they
are large and heavy so the vehicles cannot
go very far. It takes long to recharge the
battery sometimes many hours. Good
batteries can be very expensive and all
batteries have to be replaced after a while

MORE FACTS ABOUT
ELECTRIC VEHICLES

There is also trends towards more eco friendly production and
materials for electric vehicles. The ford focus electric is made
up of recycled materials and the padding is made up of bio
based materials. The Nissan leaf’s interior and bodywork is
partly made out of green materials such as water bottles, old
plastic, old car parts and eve second hand home appliences.
