OECD and Global Education Policy
Education systems operate in a world that is constantly evolving towards new
equilibria, yet short-term crises may disrupt, accelerate or divert longer-term
evolutions. Balancing the important and the urgent thus emerges as the key
everyday task of today’s education systems. To do so, successful education
systems must harness the kinetic energy of the ever-changing world they inhabit,
becoming more dynamic and agile to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse
set of learners.

OECD Learning Compass 2030

Is an evolving learning framework that sets out an aspirational vision for the future of
education. It supports the wider goals of education and provides points of orientation
towards the future we want: individual and collective well-being. (2019)

NCCA Advisory Report to Minister March 2022
Education often seeks to conserve what is most important, most valued
and most needed for future generations. It seeks also to provide each
generation with the capacity to cope with change and with what the
future brings. Striking a balance between conservation and change in
shaping our collective future to an agreed purpose and vision requires
ongoing collaboration and discussion. In this context, this Advisory
Report is less a set of specific and fixed proposals than a plan and
approach towards the redevelopment of senior cycle. It expresses a clear
purpose, vision and principles for a redeveloped senior cycle, and
outlines priorities, a sequence of work and next steps for the process
that lies ahead
