  4. Average cost of housing in each area Southeast ID $950-$1,565 per semester. The average cost of single dwelling family housing in Madison county is $700 - $900 per month. Ogden, UT Anywhere from $275 (renting a bedroom) to $800 a month. SLC, UT Rent on a one-bedroom basement apartment starts around $850. Two- bedroom apartments start around $1000. Single rooms rent for an average of $325. Rent on a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment is about $1,000. Could be higher or lower depending on where you live. Cost of living is about the same as Idaho. Rent on a 2 bedroom apartment is around $900. Mesa, AZ Caldwell, ID Las Vegas, NV Rent on a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment is about $900. Could be higher or lower depending on where you live.

Starting pay for a 1st year teacher in each area Southeast ID Starts at $38,500 Ogden, UT Starts at $42,270 (with a Masters degree = $47,733) In the last two years we have seen 4-5% increases each year on the salary schedule. Jordan has a starting salary of $48,000. Granite has a starting salary of $43,483. Davis has a starting salary of $43,798. Starts at $43,450. Average salary for veteran teachers in Mesa is $55,000. SLC, UT Mesa, AZ Caldwell, ID Starts at $38,500. Las Vegas, NV Starts at $40,900. NO State income tax (adds around $7,000/year in your pocket).

  6. Summary of insurance benefits for beginning teachers Southeast IDIncludes district paid medical, vision, dental and life insurance of the employed teacher. They may add extra insurance such as American Fidelity, cancer, disability or add family members to their plan, but the employee pays for those themselves. Ogden, UT Weber offers either a high deductible plan or a regular plan. For a single it is $91.00 - $125.00/month. It increases for families. Weber also offers dental, vision, and a wellness plan, that if utilized, reduces the cost of premiums. SLC, UT Granite offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a flexible spending account. Granite offers a health clinic for employees with zero co-pay for primary and urgent care visits. Davis teachers have a choice between traditional health insurance or a high deductible plan. Davis provides basic life insurance and offers dental and optical insurance. Jordan offers competitive insurance benefits as well. Mesa, AZ Mesa offers a choice of two high-deductible plans and one traditional plan. In addition, they offer dental, vision, short and long term disability, a flexible spending account, automobile insurance, pet care insurance, and more. Caldwell, ID Includes district paid medical, vision, dental and life insurance of the employed teacher. They may add extra insurances such as American Fidelity, cancer, disability or add family members to their plans, but the employee pays for those themselves. Las Vegas, NV Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage available for dependents and spouses. Nevada is one of few states that does not have an age requirement to retire: o Vested in 5 years o CCSD contributes 28% of employee s salary at nearly no cost to the employee

  7. Job openings available each year (on average) Southeast ID On average there are around 30 job openings per district per year (depending on the size of the district) due to district changes, growth, and retirement. Ogden, UT 100-150 teaching openings each year. These are not all full-time openings. SLC, UT There is still a lot of growth in the Salt Lake area. For the 2019-2020 school year, Jordan hired 466 teachers, Granite hired 397 teachers, and Davis hired 374 teachers. It is rare if a student teacher wanting to stay and teach in Mesa and is not offered a job. Mesa offers many jobs in the middle of the school year. Mesa, AZ Caldwell, ID About 40-60 openings each year, most available at the beginning of each school year. These openings are full and part-time positions. Las Vegas, NV Hundreds of job openings each year. Mid-year hires are common. This is one of the largest school districts in the nation!

Activities available for singles (social life) in each area Southeast ID College performances and activities, BYU-Idaho Outdoor Rec rentals for outdoor recreation supplies, swimming on campus, Rexburg Rapids, Escape rooms, Fat Cats, and the Paramount Theater. Ogden, UT Weber State and Utah State Universities close by. Close to 5 temples (within 30 minutes). Many outdoor activities, three ski resorts close by, and many cultural activities. SLC, UT LDS Institute located within Jordan District s boundaries. Thriving YSA wards are available across the valley. Thousands of students at UVU and BYU. Close to many Temples. Mesa, AZ Over 30 YSA Wards in Mesa and neighboring communities. LDS Institute classes taught several evenings a week. 5 hours to California beaches. 2 hours to the mountains of Arizona for hiking or camping. 4 hours to the beaches of Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Caldwell, ID Strong institute programs and activities. Close to two temple. Close to College of Idaho, NNU, and Boise State Universities. Strong LDS base in Las Vegas. Institute programs and activities. Many cultural and recreation activities available. Las Vegas, NV

Other Highlights for Each Area Southeast ID Sand Dunes, Green Canyon swimming, hiking the Menan Butte, Bear World, Rigby Lake, golf courses, Gravity Factory, Heise Hot Springs, zip lining, Kelly Canyon skiing. Ogden, UT 5 high schools in Weber. Many high school and university activities that BYU-Idaho students can get involved in (sporting events, musicals, plays, etc.). Many of the community parks offer free movie nights and concerts in the parks. Great career opportunities and job security! There is something for everyone in the Salt Lake area. There are several popular canyons and numerous ski resorts just a short drive away. Additionally, Park City (less than an hour away) offers fun sights and activities. There is a teacher shortage, and a job for you in Mesa. There are many thriving YSA wards in the Valley. Mesa and surrounding communities are large cities with a small-town feel. We have great schools, strong ward connections, and lots of activities. There are three Temples nearby Mesa, Gilbert, and Phoenix. River activities, skiing, movie theatres, lots of restaurants, cultural events, and more. SLC, UT Mesa, AZ Caldwell, ID Las Vegas, NV Hoover Dam and other historical sites nearby. Strong LDS Institute programs. Las Vegas Temple. Nevada has a lower than average sales tax.
