Education Ministry's 2020 CXC Results Analysis

Dominica's Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training & National Excellence released the 2020 CXC results, including CCSLC and CSEC outcomes. The CCSLC English A and Mathematics results are highlighted, showing the performance of different secondary schools. DCHS and NECS excelled in English A, while PCSS, CBSS, and DGS showed improvement in Mathematics. Overall, the performance in both CCSLC and CSEC exams is analyzed, with a slight decrease in the 2020 CSEC pass rate compared to the previous year.

2. CCSLC Results Analysis 8 secondary schools submitted candidates for 2020 CCSLC exams. 572 school candidates. 316 males and 256 females. 132 students less than 2019. Exams were done in 6 different subject areas with schools attempting 2 6 subjects.

6. Performance summary DCHS and NECS continue to excel in English A. PCSS, CBSS and DGS have all shown an upward trend in performance in Mathematics. PCSS and CBSS have showed outstanding performance in CCSLC English A and CCSLC Mathematics in 2020. 471 students (82.4%) have attained Mastery or Competent levels in the 2020 CCSLC exams.

7. CSEC Results Analysis 15 Secondary schools submitted candidates for CSEC exams. 748 school candidates. 345 males and 403 females. 38 less students than last year when 786 students sat the examination. 305 private candidates. 91 males and 214 females. 69 less than 2019. 1053 total wrote the CSEC examinations in 33 subject areas.

9. OVERALL PERFORMANCE 2 schools showed marked improvement when compared to their overall performance in 2019. DGS (74.3% to 76%) and SMA (85.2% to 91.6%) . 330 or 44.1% of the candidates passed 5 or more subjects including Mathematics and English. 534 or 71.4% of the candidates passed 5 or more subjects with either grades 1, 2 or 3. 50 students from 10 Secondary schools obtained 6 or more grade ones in the CSEC exams

22. CVQ Results Analysis A total of 3 female students of the Goodwill Secondary school were entered for the 2020 CVQ in Garment Production. All 3 candidates are deemed Competent in CVQ Garment Production Level 1 and will be awarded by CXC.
