  2. Why are we interested in the economic impacts and in Housing?

  3. The evidence is that the impact is going to be big

  4. Significantly though economic distress is not bad in its own right, economic hardship contributes to other poor outcomes Economic factors are therefore likely to influence longer term demand on statutory demand and need across the system if left unaddressed. Link between income and health Link Employment outcomes for children qualifying for Free School Meals Link Parental employment and educational outcomes of children Link An Association of Directors of Children s Services (ADCS) research project in November 2018 concluded that increase in demand for children s social care arose from a range of factors including wider social determinants linked to poverty.   5. We cannot resolve all issues, but knowing where they are, enables us to intervene in a proactive and preventative way

  7. Housing is a critical component Enabling us to see who is in distress and target support or engagement across the whole system to prevent the expensive and negative outcomes There is lots that we can learn from best practice you already do Identifying best practice relies on clear evidence

Origins of earlier Housing Board exercise There is a concern, particularly expressed by non-stockholding Local Authorities, about potential homelessness as a result of the end of the furlough scheme What are we trying to achieve? Ultimately to sustain tenancies and keep people out of debt Understanding the scale of financial impacts that our communities are facing The scale of the impact Who is impacted? Why they might be affected, and what we can do about it. Quantitative & qualitative data can also assist in identifying households to target for assistance (we may need to get the GDPR police in to assist!)
