DSPS approves reasonable accommodations on a case by case basis, by the
participation of interactive process, disability  and educational limitations.

may be approved, depending on the nature of the student's educational limitations.

DSPS counselors offer new and returning students

pecialized
counseling to assist with coordinating academic
accommodations, decision making and educational planning.
 
The Academic Accommodation Plan (AAP- formerly the SEC) is
completed/updated every year and outlines educational goals
and approved academic accommodations based on current
verification and educational limitations.

Students inquiring  about  test proctoring adjustments must
meet with a counselor.
 
Testing accommodations may be approved as a reasonable
academic adjustment if a disability prevents a student from
taking tests under standard conditions
Testing accommodations include

DSPS Counselors determine reasonable accommodations

Comply with the Student Code of Conduct as stated in LACCD Board Rules.
Be responsible in their use of DSPS services and adhere to written service
policies
Make measurable progress toward goals developed for the course when
enrolled in educational assistance classes as established in the student’s
Academic Accommodation Plan (AAP) or
Meet academic standards established by the college as applied to all
students when enrolled in general college classes

  4. Counseling DSPS counselors offer new and returning students specialized counseling to assist with coordinating academic accommodations, decision making and educational planning. Meet with a DSPS Counselor at least once each semester to review and update academic accommodations as well as develop or update a Student Educational Plan

Student Rights Participation in DSPS is voluntary Receiving support services from DSPS does not prevent a student from participating in any other program or activity offered by the college All records maintained by DSPS pertaining to students who participate in the program are confidential and protected from disclosure No information or record is released from the program without the expressed written consent of the student
