Joshua challenged the people of Israel: Now fear the LORD, serve Him with all faithfulness. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to You, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.
God made us a people: We are being shaped by God s will. Jesus calls us together: We meet in Jesus name. The Spirit binds us together: He leads us into truth.
Together we declare our faith: We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We believe in one baptism as a sign of the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Psalm 139 v1-6 God knows what has happened. Reflect silently on what has happened this past year.
Psalm 139 v 23-24 The purpose of reflection is that God may search our hearts. By reflecting we look back to bring openness to God in how we look forward.
2 Corinthians 5 v 19 Jesus came so that men s sins would not be counted against them. In confession we lay down our sin and believe that God completely forgives. We confess to God quietly what has harmed our relationship with Him.
Confess together: Lord, you know our hearts. Against you only we have sinned. You sent your Son to pay for our sin, so we may be completely forgiven. We ask that in His name you would forgive us and remember our sins no more. Help us to lay them aside and live for your glory. Amen
Dedication: Dedication is where we affirm that we are committed to being God s people. If that is who you are, you remind yourself of the journey God has brought you on and reaffirm the commitment to continuing in that path.
We dedicate ourselves together: Lord, how strange it is that You should call us to be Your church, Yet You have always worked through women and men To work out Your full purpose. Through prophets and disciples, leaders and followers, preachers and listeners, You have called Your people That Your redeeming love might work through them.
Above all, in Jesus Your Word has become flesh and a human being has fully lived Your will. He has died for us, and You have raised Him for us, that He might be our foundation and head. Fill us with His love, that we might truly be His disciples. We dedicate ourselves now to being Your people. Accept our worship and our prayers, our intentions and our gifts.
All has come from You, and now, as we pray, Your Spirit prompts us and empowers us. Grant us Your grace that we might be faithful to our calling as Your church. Deepen our faith, strengthen our love, increase our hope, That we might be an acceptable offering to You and available for Your will; Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
Covenant: A covenant is a solemn promise of a partnership with God. We remind ourselves of God s commitment to us, in sending His Son. Then we commit to Him and to one another.
Creating and redeeming God, we give You thanks and praise. Your covenant of grace was made for our salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord. We come this day to covenant with You and with our companions in discipleship: To watch over each other And to walk together before You.
Pour down Your Spirit on us. Help us so to walk in Your ways that the promises we make this day, and the life that we live together May become an offering of love, our duty and delight, truly glorifying to You, Father Son and Holy Spirit, Amen
This day we give ourselves again To the Lord And to each other, To be bound together in fellowship, And to work together in the unity of the Spirit For the sake of God s mission. In our church we commit all that we have and all that we are to fulfil God s purposes of love.
Covenant: You have committed yourselves to God, Pause to reflect and to reaffirm this commitment in your soul. You have committed yourself to the others that are here, turn to one another and wish them peace. The Lord of peace be with you
Blessing: We take our offering as a blessing returned to God for all He has done. We pray for a powerful blessing this place from our Almighty God.
Now may the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, That we may abound in hope by the power of His Holy Spirit. Now to Him who, by His power at work within us, is able to accomplish Abundantly, far more than we can ask or imagine: To Him be glory in the church, and in Christ Jesus, to all generations, Forever and ever, Amen.
