This is a rock as black as soot. This is a simile. It compares the rock with soot. A simile uses the words as or like to compare two objects. We are going to write some similes to describe colours or size.
Complete the simile as red as... as blue as as big as as tiny as
Write 5 similes for this picture. Choose an object and then think of a simile. parrot tree whale sand sea
Plan a story At the end of the story all the snails and the whale swam off for another adventure. Your challenge today is to plan and write their next adventure. Where they will go? What they will see? What will happen to them? How will it end? Back at the rock? Challenge Think of at least one simile to use in your writing. Draw pictures to plan out your story and think of words you might like to use in your writing. When you have finished your plan, tell your story to someone in your family.
