  1. Making a mandala Marcia Williams shares her mandala-making tips

  2. Making a mandala Nature is known to improve our wellbeing, and a beautiful and mindful way to explore it is to make a mandala. The word mandala is a Sanskrit term that means circle and a mandala is a circular design that radiates out from the centre.

  3. Marcias Mandala Every mandala is personal to the creator. It s your little palace and you can create rooms in it for your own special thoughts or feelings. Many people draw their mandalas but you can also create one from natural things that you find in your outside area. Here is one that I made.

  4. Marcias mandala step-by-step The objects in my basket are all things that I found on a winter walk. I chose them for their variety of shapes and colours. We often think of winter as a time that is bleak and grey, but if we really look it s full of surprises. I then found two sticks to form rooms for my circle.

  5. Marcias mandala step-by-step Now I m filling my four rooms with these amazing natural objects: mosses, tree bark, flowers and all sorts. It reminds me that, even during winter, nature s colours are varied and beautiful. If we re mindful and look about us there is always something new and surprising to find.

  6. Marcias mandala step-by-step The other nice thing about creating a mandala outside is that you can leave it where you made it, and then it becomes a little eye-treat for someone passing by. You can also make your mandala your focus when meditating. To earn your Wellbeing Challenge you might like to make a mandala that thanks Shakespeare for all the wonderful words he wrote or one based around your favourite play or quote. Do send us some pictures of them!
