  2. Cranfield Trust Mentoring Provides an opportunity for charity leaders to shine Is a formal, structured programme lasting from 6-8 months Builds a productive relationship Is transformational it changes the mentee and the mentor Provides a great self-development for volunteers Is an opportunity to share, successes, mistakes and learning Mentees get a real sense of being supported and challenged constructively

  3. Being a mentor volunteer You will meet with your mentee once a month over a six-to-eight-month programme You will need an ability to listen and reflect Be self aware - being able to read a situation An ability to challenge constructively without being prescriptive You will need to have empathy and the ability to see things from different perspectives Lots of enthusiasm!

  4. Mentoring in action The mentoring relationship is about change There is a monthly mentoring reflective session to help sharpen your skills and learn with fellow mentors In 2020/1 We started 132 new mentoring assignments and ran 9 mentoring reflective sessions for mentors It was a terrific experience, and it has been essential for problem solving and clarity. Launching a third sector organisation can be a daunting and lonely business where you often doubt your own ability and experience. My mentor has given me a touchpoint every month to work through issues, prioritise and re-set. He's also given me such a boost which when you're working round the clock is really something. Our one-hour power hours have been transforming.

  5. With your help, we can continue to support thousands of charities Planning ahead trustees and staff developing strategy and business plans Improving financial management Supporting trustee boards Exploring new ventures: feasibility studies Facilitating discussions eg possible mergers Mentoring for Chief Executives and managers See Different Ways to Volunteer for the range of Cranfield Trust volunteer roles
