COVID Safety Updates Fall 2021
Agenda 1) COVID-19 Safety Guidance (What is in place to minimize COVID-19 spread?) 1) COVID-19 Protocols (What if my student has COVID-19 symptoms, was exposed to COVID-19, or tested positive for COVID-19?)
Vaccinations Staff: All unvaccinated staff will be required to COVID-test weekly on site. Volunteers/contractors: All must show proof of vaccination Students: Vaccination strongly recommended for ages 12+. Upcoming Vaccination Events (no appt necessary): Wednesday, August 11th -- Lakewood Elementary from 9am to 3pm Thursday, August 12th -- Bishop Elementary from 9am to 3pm

You will be asked if your student: is experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms has been diagnosed with COVID-19 has been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 10 days. Please ensure the school site has your accurate contact information. (Sample screen -- may not be the same as SSD screen)
Daily Screening If you answer yes to any of the symptoms/questions: You will receive a Do Not Come to School Today message. Contact the school -- they will give you next steps on protocols for a failed screener. If you did not check any symptoms and answered no to the questions, you will receive Approved for Entry . Other Considerations, Details and FAQs
Pick up / Drop off and Screening Drop off / screening: Each site will have designated pick up / drop off locations in order to minimize on- campus traffic. Teachers will check student screeners at classroom door via Ruvna dashboard Unscreened students: Directed to (site location) for paper screening Failed Screener: Parents will be called to pick up student from H&W room. Late arrivals: Screener-check in office when procuring late slip. Office Visit Protocol: If you need to enter the office Check the screener poster at the office to screen for symptoms Wear a mask before entering Be mindful of crowding and maximize space around you while waiting
Attendance If your student fails a COVID screener, you still must call in his/her absence. How do COVID-related quarantines impact attendance? Absences due to mandated quarantine/isolation (symptoms, close cont, positive cases) are excused. Absences due to self-selected COVID quarantine (not mandated) are considered unexcused.
School Events In order to comply with the state guidance of limiting non-essential visitors and activities, but still maintain some of our traditions and leadership events, our events may look a little different this year. Sites will communicate which events will be In-person, Virtual, or Postponed. In-Person (modified) Virtual Postponed Back to School Night (all virtual) Note: Guidance for Band/Choir/Drama and Athletics is coming soon from the California Dept of Public Health!
Symptom Protocol A student/staff member is experiencing COVID symptoms / failed the screener: Today or within past 3 days Today or within past 3 days new or not explained by another reason? Fever (100 or higher) or chills Cough Shortness of breath / Difficulty breathing Loss of taste or smell Fatigue Sore throat Muscle or body aches Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea Headache Contact the office to report your absence if you say yes to having any of these symptoms.
Symptom Protocol All symptomatic individuals must isolate (vaccinated and unvaccinated) May return with a negative COVID test if 24 hrs fever free Without a negative test, must isolate for 10 days since symptoms began Contact healthcare provider for COVID-testing or find a free testing site at this link. Doctor s note can replace a negative test if all three criteria are reflected in the note: Certification that a medical evaluation was completed Statement that an alternative explanation for symptoms has been identified COVID-19 testing is not indicated / necessary
Positive COVID Test Protocol If a student/staff member tests positive for COVID-19. If the case is symptomatic: must isolate for 10 days since symptoms began If asymptomatic, 10 days since the date they took the COVID test. Case should not retest after isolation
