COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines for Athletics Mira Mesa High School Athletics
Important Information Approved Covid Safety plan is required before beginning any On-Campus Practice Sessions Contact all of your families about the MANDATORY meeting before beginning On-Campus Practice Sessions All Practice Sessions must be posted on the school s Master Calendar. Email Amanda Courtney NO Training November 21 - December 1st We want to give athletes a few days to resume a normal schedule after break. Especially if they traveled or socialized outside of their family Coach who fills out the District Safety Plan Worksheet is responsible for calling in and out with School Police (619)291-7678 before and after each Practice Session Only 14 students in a cohort and a maximum of 2 coaches per cohort Masks will be provided to all coaches Disposable masks will be provided to athletes if needed See custodial for supplies like masks, hand sanitizer and wipes Custodial will sanitize the bathrooms daily If a coach is notified that a student has tested positive for COVID, they should close down conditioning for the day and immediately notify their site administration who will notify the district Nursing & Wellness Department and the Athletics Department. Once this notification is made, the district Nursing & Wellness Department will immediately step in to provide guidance and next steps.
Safe Environment 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Parents, community members and Media are not allowed to be on site under any circumstance. Parents and/or guardians may pick up and drop off athletes but must remain in their cars. Parents must remain in their cars while waiting to pick their athlete(s) up. Students should not carpool No spectators (including parents, children, students and media) will be permitted within any athletic practice/conditioning facility. Coaches should stress the importance and need for students to stay 6 feet apart from one another and wear masks that cover their nose and mouth on the way in and out of the facility and until they reach home. Student-Athletes must bring their own labeled water bottle and water may not be shared. Students and Staff must be physically distanced at all times (6-feet). One (1) person in the restroom at a time. 10. Restroom lines must be outdoors and those in the line must be masked and 6-feet apart. 11. Coaches are responsible for ensuring cohorts stay together for conditioning. Maximum of 2 coaches per Cohort 12. Coaches are not allowed to move among the cohorts. They must stay with the cohort they start with. 13. Hand sanitizer and PPE supplies will be utilized by all in attendance. 14. Available restrooms will be monitored & sanitized daily. 15. Site custodial and coaches are responsible for ensuring facility and equipment are properly clean after each cohort practice. 6. 7. 8. 9.
MASKS Masks MUST be worn by ALL coaches the entire training session Student-Athletes must wear masks to and from training sessions Face masks are not required when social distancing 6-feet apart and the student is running. When students are not running, they must put their mask back on. Masks need to cover the nose and mouth and should be snug Masks can be cloth or surgical type Neck gaiters that cover the nose and mouth are acceptable Mask with valves should NOT be worn and face shields alone are not sufficient

Symptom Checklist Checklist also includes close contact screening. If an athlete or coach has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID 19 they may not attend and need to contact their doctor or email sdusdnursing@sandi.net for further steps. CLEARPASS symptom checklist prior to arrival. Athlete should show coach green check mark. OR Submit paper symptom checklist. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for greater than 15 minutes.
Daily Athlete Check-In Steps 1. Show ClearPass clearance or hand in Check-In Sheet worksheet No Clear pass, No Conditioning Yes to any of the questions, No Conditioning 1. Hand Sanitizer Station 2. Take attendance before training - All athletes must have AAU membership

Daily Hygiene Measures - Review with Athletes Wash hands after restroom, touching face, blowing nose, cough, sneeze, or blood exposure If hands are visibly soiled - must wash with soap and water If no visible soil, waterless soap is ok Cover cough, sneeze with elbow Take shower at home following practice, use soap Wash water bottles following practice DO NOT share water bottles Coaches should not provide water Remind athletes to bring plenty of water Emphasize importance of healthy eating, getting enough sleep and taking care of social/emotional wellness GET YOUR FLU SHOT!
