DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BRITISH AND AMERICAN ENGLISH 7 1 . .
The hypothesis of our research work is as follows: 500 years of existence of the language on different continents, cultural differences have led to significant differences in pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, as well as the use of idioms, dates and numbers in modern common British English and American English, which is not reflected in the textbooks of UMK Spotlight. The purpose of our project is: *clearly delineate two acceptable versions of English (British and American) in pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and punctuation and mistakes that students who are not native speakers may make; *to draw attention of the students to the results obtained, to present them in a format that is interesting for modern teenagers. The basic methods : 1. Search (searching for information on the Internet, in the library; studying of official business documentation; watching the movie "Exchange Vacation"; listening to songs by British bands The Beatles , The Rolling Stones andAmerican singer Bob Dylan) 2. Analysis of the received facts (selection of important and interesting information on this topic) 3. Synthesis (systematization of knowledge, generalization of received information and structuring by categories) 4. Conducting questionnaire among students

CONCLUSION After analyzing the textbooks of the 6-7 grades, we saw that both the British and American versions are used in the texts and exercises. However, there are no links to the British or American version of English. The majority of the students of our class know that there are differences between the British and American versions, but only 10% can give examples of such differences, which proves the relevance of our research project.
