3.1-6
Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a
heavenly calling, consider
Jesus, the apostle and
high priest of our confession
, who was faithful to
him who appointed him, just as Moses also was
faithful in all God's house.
3.1-6
For
Jesus has been counted worthy of more
glory than Moses
—as much more glory as the
builder of a house has more honor than the
house itself. (For every house is built by
someone, but the builder of all things is God.)
3.1-6
Now
Moses was faithful in all God's house as a
servant
, to testify to the things that were to be
spoken later but
Christ is faithful over God's
house as a son
.

3.1-6
Now
Moses was faithful in all God's house as a
servant
, to testify to the things that were to be
spoken later but
Christ is faithful over God's
house as a son
.
--
3.6
But Christ is faithful over God's house as a son.
And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our
confidence
 and our boasting in our
hope
.
--
6.19-20
We have this as a
sure and steadfast anchor of
the soul
, a hope that enters into the inner place
behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a
forerunner on our behalf, having become a high
priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
--
3.7-8
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you
hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as in
the rebellion, on the day of testing in the
wilderness
--
All the congregation of the people of Israel
moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages,
according to the commandment of the LORD,
and camped at Rephidim, but there was
no
water for the people to drink.
Exodus 17.1-3

Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and
said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to
them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do
you test the LORD?”
Exodus 17.1-3

But the people thirsted there for water, and the
people grumbled against Moses
and said, “Why
did you bring us up
out of Egypt, to kill us
and
our children and our livestock
with thirst?
--
Exodus 17.1-3

3.9
Where your fathers
put me to the test
and saw my works for forty years
--
“Take the staff, and assemble the congregation,
you and Aaron your brother, and
tell the rock
before their eyes to yield its water
. So you shall
bring water out of the rock for them and give
drink to the congregation and their cattle.” And
Moses took the staff from before the LORD, as
he commanded him.
Numbers 20.8-11

Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly
together before the rock, and he said to them,
Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for
you out of this rock?
Numbers 20.8-11

And Moses
lifted up his hand and struck the
rock
with his staff twice, and water came out
abundantly, and the congregation drank, and
their livestock.

Numbers 20.8-11

3.10-11
Therefore I was provoked with that generation,
and said, ‘
They always go astray
in their heart;
they have not known my ways.’ As I swore in my
wrath, ‘
They shall not enter my rest
.’”
--
And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
Because

you did not believe in me
, to uphold
me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel,
therefore
you shall not bring this assembly into
the land that I have given them
.”
--
Numbers 20.12
And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and
James, and John his brother, and led them up a
high mountain by themselves. And he was
transfigured
before them, and his face shone
like the sun, and his clothes became white as
light.
Matthew 17.1-3
And behold, there appeared to them
Moses
 and
Elijah, talking with him.
--
Matthew 17.1-3
3.12-13
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you
an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall
away from the living God. But
exhort one
another every day
, as long as it is called “today,”
that none of you may be hardened by the
deceitfulness of sin.

Therefore, as holy brothers sharing in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, faithful over God's house, deserving more glory than Moses. While Moses was faithful as a servant in God's house, Christ is faithful as a son. We, as His house, must hold fast to our confidence. Jesus is our anchor of hope, a high priest like Melchizedek, who has entered into the inner place behind the curtain for us. Let us not harden our hearts, but listen to His voice.
