Training plan layout U6s-U-8s 5/6 stations at 10-12 mins each station Split players into small groups, between 6 and 8 kids Each coach has 1/2 stations to cover and then swap kids with anotner coach Warm up Fun chasing games Striking/ kicking Station e.g Over the river FUNdemental movement station e.g hopping, skipping, jumping, running Throwing/Catching station e.g bean bag games, balloon games MATCHES- Small sided games, 4/5kids on a team and have a blitz with 4/6 teams. The smaller the team sizes the more touches each child gets.
Chasing Games Flush the toilet- When a person gets caught they stand still with there hand out to the side and they cant move until someone pushes there hand down Stuck in the mud When person is caught they stand still with legs apart and another person must crawl underneath there legs to free them Under the bridge- When person is caught they go down on hands and toes and a person must crawl underneath there belly to free them Ball catch Everyone who has a ball is on ,if they catch someone who doesnt have a ball then hey give that person the ball and that person is now on . Make it harder by making them bounce, throw and catch, solo while chasing people. In Hurling/Camogie make them carry hurley in writing hand and only catch people with non writing hand/ Catching hand Monkey Tails- Each child gets a bib and they tuck it in like a tail. Aim is to grab other players bib and throw it on the ground , last player with a tail wins.
Observations 100% participation 100% of the time Kids are having FUN Movements reflect that of a game based situation where possible Using a ball where possible to reflect a game
Kicking/Striking Games Over the river- At least a ball per player. Break into 2 groups and have a dividing line on the pitch between groups. On the whistle each side starts kicking/striking the ball into the other teams area without crossing the dividing line. When whistle blows again both teams freeze and the team with the least balls on there side is the winner. Make more difficult by putting goals in middle of dividing line and players must strike threw goals to the other side. Knock the cones- At least a ball per player. Break into 2 groups and have a dividing line of cones between each group. Similar to over the river exept players are trying to knock the cones in the middle faser than the other the other side. Keep playing until all cones are knocked Empty the Circle- At least a ball per player. Divide group into two teams, one team stand in the circle and the other team stand outside. On the whistle team in the circle wants to empty all balls out of the circle and players outside want to fill the circle . When whistle goes again the team with the least balls in there area is the winner. Switch teams so that tbey get a go inside and outside the circle. Goal to goal Divide group into pairs , each player has a goal and they strike and try to score a goal on there partner .

Bouncing/ Throwing/ Catching section Bean bag exercises- Throw bean bag up in the air and try and catch without leaving it hit the ground Throw bean bag in the air and clap hands and try to catch Try to throw bean bag from 1 hand to the other Throw bean bag up over there head and catch up high Bean bag chase in which players must throw bean bag and try hit a players feet ,players who get hit must do 5 jumping jacks Throw ball into the air and try and catch Dodgeball Divide players into 2 teams divided by a line of cones. Put all balls into the middle between all groups. On the whistle players run into the centre and take one ball at a time back to there NEST and when each ball is gone from the middle players can staet robbing from other nests. Players to throw/bounce4catch the ball on the way back to there nest Around the clock divide players into pairs and form a big circle, one person from each pair runs around the clock , back to there partner and goes under there legs. They run into the middle where all the balls are and bring one back to there partner who then does the same. Keep playing untill every ball is gone from the middle. Team with the most balls wins.
