  1. Coaching checklist Physical training plan Understanding of plan by all coaches Number of participants Taking part Hurley Watch Whistle Sufficient Equipment to execute plan e.g at least a ball per player Sufficient space to execute plan

  2. Key areas to focus on Fundemental movements Striking /kicking Catching First touch /Hand eye co ordination/ Comfort with the ball Tackling ALL THE ABOVE IS GAMES BASED- RELATE TO A GAME SITUATION AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE

  3. Training plan layout 5/6 stations of 10-12 mins Split players into small groups 6-10 Each coach has stations Warm up involving fundemental movements Fun game involving the ball Game based on a skill performed in previous session Skill/Drill station Static-moving under pressure Game based on new skill Skill/Drill station Static-Moving-Under pressure Game based on new skill

  4. Warm up games Flush the toilet- When a person gets caught they stand still with there hand out to the side and they cant move until someone pushes there hand down Stuck in the mud When person is caught they stand still with legs apart and another person must crawl underneath there legs to free them Under the bridge- When person is caught they go down on hands and toes and a person must crawl underneath there belly to free them Ball catch Everyone who has a ball is on ,if they catch someone who doesnt have a ball then hey give that person the ball and that person is now on . Make it harder by making them bounce,throw and catch, solo while chasing people. In Hurling/Camogie make them carry hurley in writing hand and only catch people with non writing hand/ Catching hand Monkey Tails- Each child gets a bib and they tuck it in like a tail. Aim is to grab other players bib and throw it on the ground , last player with a tail wins.

  5. Skill/Drill based on passing and catching Hand passing in pairs static- Switch pairs every 30 secs Hand passing while moving Pass to a different person each time Hand passing under pressure e.g piggy in the midle

  6. Game based on skill Possession game -3 handpasses in a row gets a score Goal to goal- Handpass the ball into the goal to score Extra points for handpassing with weaker hand

  7. Skill/Drill based on first touch Jab picking while static with knee on the ground Jab picking moving to a different ball each time How many jab picks in a minute Around the clock Every child runs around the clock with the sliotars in the middle of the clock . On the whistle each player must run in jab pick a sliotar and run out of the clock with the ball in there hand. Everyone who gets a ball gets a point. Reduce the amount of sliotars every round. No eliminations.

  8. Game based on skill Goal to goal Successful jab pick gets a score as well as scoring goals Jab picks while moving worth 2 points, static worth 1 point Promoting jab picking at the correct time and moving the ball on the ground if needed

  9. Drill/Skill based on kicking/striking Kicking / Striking in pairs static Kicking /Striking while moving How many kicks /Strikes can you do in a minute with a partner Goal to goal, trying to score on your partner in there goal , first to 3 goals gets a point

  10. Game based on skill 2 teams, make a circle of cones around a goal , start with a relatively small diameter and adjust as confidence grows. Game can be played both inside and outside the circle but players can only score points/goals from outside the circle . Game never stops and once you score or miss the game is played on with the same ball.

  11. Skill /Drill based on tackling Blocking down by yourself mastering technique Head/hands/feet Blocking down in pairs static without a ball mastering technique Blocking down with the ball involved static Blocking down while moving with the ball involved Shooting drills are exellent to work on strking and blocking all in one

  12. Game based on skill 2 teams goal to goal , every time you block someone down your team gets a point. 3 Blocks in a row for your team gets 3 points.
