BONNE REPRISE WELCOME BACK! A FEW REMINDERS AND A PREVIEW OF QUARTER 3
Class Rules and Procedures When you come in, pick up the handout and take your seat. Work on the warm-up independently and quietly. Warmups are review and practice to help you get started. Side conversations are disruptive. If you have a question, please wait until we start class after the warmup. Try looking at your calendar or notes to answer the question or write it down for later. Come to class prepared. Go to the bathroom, sharpen your pencil and get missing papers before the bell rings. Put away cell phones, earbuds and anything else that disrupts the flow of class. Put away anything that isn t related or needed for class, get out your notebook and warmup immediately after sitting down.
Cell Phones A new policy is being implemented at Casteel. After a warning, teachers will call security and phones will be taken to ISS for the remainder of the day. If it is your first offense, you will be allowed to pick up your phone at the end of the day. After the second offense, you will get your phone back but you will also serve lunch detention. After the third offense, your parents will have to pick up your phone. END RESULT There will be consequences just put your phone away when the teacher asks. Each teacher will be able to determine when the phone should be taken depending on the need for technology and the situation.
Bathroom and Water Passes Class time is valuable and unfortunately using the bathroom is a disruption from what is going on in class. Bathroom passes are not being issued this quarter but if it becomes an issue, they will be implemented. You will still ask to go to the bathroom in French and take the pass up front and sign out. The pass goes on the hook, not the pencil sharpener. Notice the sign with the French phrase above the hook. What is the phrase to ask to go to the bathroom in French? By now, you MUST have it memorized! If you don t memorize it today!!!!
Tardies and Phones There is no reason to be tardy. After 3 tardies, you will serve lunch detention. Per admin Please be on time and prepared to work. Use the restroom after the warm- up or before/after class. Reviewing the warm-up at the start off class is when we come together as a group and discuss what we are doing. Phones and headphones need to go in your bag and your bag should be against the wall. No headphones should be worn at any time. Because we are learning a language, we must focus 100% of our listening to class. Failure to put phones and headphones away will result in the loss of participation points and a referral for defiance. Please participate in class.
RESPECT Students have the right to learn. Teachers have the right to teach. Please remember to not disrupt the learning environment. Raise your hand when you have a question or want to answer a question. Do not call out and make noises. Consequences will include calls home and lunch detention. Serious behavior issues will be sent to ISS. Being tardy will result in lunch detentions. This is a HIGH SCHOOL class, please remember that behavior impacts your grades and success.
Success, Concerns and Tutoring If you need help, please come to me! Send me an email or text via remind or come in to see me. Sign up for Remind if you are not getting the texts. I am available before and after school and during lunch every day. Stay on top of your notes. They must be taped in, completed and reviewed for accuracy once or twice a week for your success. Homework involves reviewing your notes, Quizzlet and Duolingo and completing class activities. This is crucial to your success. If you are not understanding the material, come in for tutoring, the material is only getting more challenging this quarter!
A few more things Absent work is kept in the black basket marked French 1/2/3 where the wall is marked absent. Weekly warmup calendars are found on the bulletin board by the classroom door. Sharpen pencils before the bell rings. Have a back up. French class can and should be fun, but it requires teamwork. If we want to play games and do group activities, we need to follow a set of rules that requires appropriate behavior. Think twice about how your actions distract from the class goal of learning. THINK Is it kind, is it necessary or is it valuable? Before you make a wisecrack or comment at someone s expense, stop and think! Rules are for everyone. No food or drink in the classroom. Clean up after yourself.
Answers to your questions? 1. What made you want to become a teacher? 2. How do I keep French, Spanish, English straight without getting confused? 3. Have you ever lived on a French continent? 4. How did you find your love for French? 5. Do you think I am a bad student or just stupid? 6. Why do we have open note quizzes? 7. Why do you like Hello Kitty so much? 8.
