CAREC Digital Strategy 2030 Virtual Meeting Summary

Preparatory work: Comprehensive set of fundamental inputs shared by member countries. Consultations with member countries, development partners, private sector, and other stakeholders. Consolidation of primary and secondary inputs (received from CAREC Institute and UNESCAP) by subject experts at the CAREC Secretariat. May: Draft strategy outline shared November: Ministerial Conference Endorsement August: Private sector consultation October: Revised draft for NFP approval June: 1st round of consultation June: Senior Officials Meeting September: Draft shared for feedback June: December onward: Steering committee formation Oct/Nov: Preparation for Publication Questionnaire responses received
VISION:A COMMON CAREC DIGITAL SPACE MISSION:A DATA-DRIVEN DIGITAL ECONOMY STRENGTHENING THE DIGITAL PILLARS : STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES: Promote investment into broadband infrastructure Leadership, Governance, and Investment Harmonization of digital and data legislature Digital Policy Enablers and Safeguards Reduce barriers to cross-border trade Digital Infrastructure, Resilience, and Platforms Develop digital skills and competencies Digital Skills and Competencies Strengthen CAREC s innovation ecosystem Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and ICT Competitiveness Empower digital transformation at the sectoral level These will be supported via platform-based solutions IMPLEMENTATION: A Steering Committee constituted by CAREC member countries will be established. The process will be facilitated by the CAREC Secretariat. The Steering Committee will determine the appropriate leadership and governance structure and prioritize the entry points for implementation.
