California Water Updates and Conservation Efforts
California is still facing drought concerns despite above-average rain and snowfall, with a focus on water conservation. Various initiatives and regulations are in place to manage water resources efficiently, including the monitoring of reservoir levels and groundwater pumping. Efforts to ensure affordable and safe drinking water for all Californians are also highlighted through legislative actions and low-income assistance programs.

California Still in a Drought? Above Average Rain/Snowfall Above Average Reservoirs Levels However Drought Proclamation Still remains in effect Groundwater levels have significantly declined Excess pumping during drought Resulting in Land Subsidence SGMA Does not become effective until 2040 Surface Water has been replenished but Groundwater has not
Conservation Actions SWRCB extended emergency water conservation regulation on Feb 8th Continue to prohibit water waste Continue monthly water reporting by water utilities No more mandatory conservation Re-evaluate after wet season Plans to make ban on water waste & regular water reporting permanent Make water conservation a way of life
