  2. BELLWORK PERIODS 2 & 7 MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2016: These were our first six Tier 2 words for September. Make a foldable with six squares. Use each of the words in a DOK Level 1 or 2 question that might appear on a quiz, test, or standardized assessment. Use your Cornell Notes on Depth of Knowledge Levels to help you with this assignment. Draw (take out, pull from) - 1 Identify (find, point out) - 1 Illustrate (create visual material to clarify a point) - 1 Recognize (identify something you have seen before) - 1 Context (parts of the text that surround and help explain a specific word or passage) - 2 Summarize (to retell using fewer words) - 2

  3. CLASSWORK PERIOD 2 MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2016 Read Benjamin Franklin s Speech in the Convention on pp. 105-107. Note-taking Guide Franklin suggests that a perfect Constitution will never be created. Use this chart to list his reasons why the delegates should support it even though it is not perfect.   6. CLASSWORK PERIOD 7 MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2016 Return to The Declaration of Independence pp. 113-115. We will stop after each paragraph and address the questions in Part Three: A List of Complaints. We will use the same protocol as Friday Think-Ink-Pair-Share Whole Group Share Out.

  7. BELLWORK PERIOD 2 TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2016: 1. Read Thomas Jefferson p.111. 2. Name at least three accomplishments of Thomas Jefferson. What do his talents and actions suggest about him? 3. What college did Jefferson attend?

  8. TOPIC/OBJECTIVE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2016: Analyze the preamble, identified rights, and list of complaints in The Declaration of Independence. Evaluate the effectiveness of the structure an author uses in his or her exposition or argument, including whether the structure makes points clear, convincing, and engaging.

  9. CLASSWORK PERIOD 2 TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2016: As I read the Preamble aloud, think about the reason for this opening paragraph and jot down ideas to question #1. Share out.

What is the speaker s goal? Is it to educate, to motivate, to persuade, or to entertain? 2. What is the primary message being delivered? 3. Why is this person delivering this speech? Are they the right person? 4. Was the objective achieved?
