Facilities and Operations Update Tom Daniels, Associate Laboratory Director for F&O RHIC/AGS User s Meeting June 11, 2021
Site Operations Limited Operations with maximum telework as detailed in the BNL COVID-19 Workplace Safety Plan Onsite density 1000 1200 staff, users, and guests Work must be deemed as Mission-Critical for user and guest site access Administrative and engineering controls remain in place Federal Agency Return-to-Office Plans, draft due on 6/18, final on 7/19 BNL awaiting guidance from DOE and then will prepare the site-specific plan
BERA Current Virtual Programs ESOL, Yoga, Meditation, Instructor Led Veggie Club, Community Outreach, Brookhaven Square Park Expected Soon Restart all existing clubs/activities, and a few new ones like the garden club Continue some virtual instructor led events Open onsite facilities, gym, pool, tennis courts, fitness classes Expanded bike-share program
Housing Current We were able to maintain housing services through the pandemic but resulted in a significant financial loss Developed and implemented procedures for onsite quarantine ROOP process to justify mission critical still in effect Expected Soon Return to normal housing procedures ROOP not needed Occupancy limits canceled Reservation system open Full service in dormitories and Guest House Modern housing facility still being pursued at Discovery Park
Transportation Current BNL Shuttles for Train Schedule by reservation only. BNL pick up at 8:30 am and 4:00 pm Drop off at train station and pick up any people that arrive on the 8:59 & 9:37 am and the 4:46 & 5:57 pm trains. Shopping Shuttle: Saturdays, 8:30 am - 12 Noon Expected Soon Shopping Shuttle: Wednesdays, 5 - 8:30pm and Saturdays, 8:30 am - 12 Noon Shuttle available for campus tours BNL Shuttles for below LIRR Schedule. No reservations required.
Food and Conference Services Current Micro-marts in B400 and B740 Food trucks Monday Friday Monthly Food Fetes Roster of outside vendors that can provide individually packaged food service Infrastructure upgrades to Berkner Expected Soon Expanding food truck service Adding an additional micro-mart in B911 Complete the assessment of potential food service options within Berkner including potential food hall, expanded micro-mart, or conventional cafeteria
