The Baby Falls Prevention Program at Rotunda Hospital aims to reduce the incidence of postpartum neonatal falls, which can cause serious harm to newborns. By increasing staff awareness, educating parents, and introducing safer adult beds and neonatal cots, the program seeks to mitigate the risk of harm resulting from falls. Key outcomes include the establishment of the program in Q4 2021 and ongoing initiatives to change maternal beds hospital-wide. The program's success is being monitored, with a focus on improving patient safety and reducing the separation between mother-baby dyads. Quarterly reviews and comparisons with previous years' data will ensure the sustainability of interventions and drive national awareness and prevention efforts.
