3. Communication Rules/What to Expect 1. This webinar will be recorded and posted on the Caltrans Division of Local Assistance ADA website. 2. During the webinar session, you may submit questions or comments through the webinar platform chat box. 3. Questions and answers will be read aloud during or toward the end of this webinar, and Frequently Asked Questions will be posted on the ADA website for future reference. 4. 4. Learning Objectives American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Overview Describe accessibility standards applicable to highways and streets Identify accessibility requirements and recommended safety practices Discuss design alternatives for complex pedestrian facilities 4 CALTRANS LPA TRAINING

5. ADA Overview The ADA has five titles: Title I Employment Title II - Public Entities Title III - Private Entities Title IV - Telecommunications Title V - Miscellaneous 5 CALTRANS LPA TRAINING

6. Title II of the ADA Title II requires public entities to take several steps to become compliant with the ADA. All public entities must: Self-Evaluation Provide public notice about the ADA Public entities with 50 or more employees are also required to: Designate an employee to oversee Title II compliance Establish a grievance procedure Develop a transition plan if structural changes are necessary for achieving program accessibility 6 CALTRANS LPA TRAINING
