Romeo sees Juliet from across the
room and asks a servingman if he
knows who she is/
He is transfixed and he says he has
never been in love until this moment.
He moves through the crowd but
Tybalt spots him.
Tybalt wants to fight him for coming
to a Capulet party and disrespecting
the family.
Lord Capulet stops Tybalt and says
the Romeo is respected so it will be
embarrassing for the family if he
fights Romeo.
The thing about hands and palms
Romeo touches Juliet’s hand and
speaks to her in lots of metaphors
and RELIGIOUS language.
Romeo = a pilgrim
Juliet = a holy shrine
He tries to convince Juliet to kiss him
as it will get rid of his sin.
Juliet agrees only as long as he kisses
back because the sin will be
transferred to her so she must give it
back.
Basically: they take forever until they
kiss
