  5. Virtual Pedigree A program created by BYU Computer Science department to assist in the furthering of genealogy. It was created by undergraduate students under the direction of Dr. Bill Barrett as part of the BYU Family History Technology Lab. Using the users data on FamilySearch The program is an cutting edge tree viewer that makes exploring one's family history super easy! The program cuts out all the work of navigating and exploring family trees without sacrificing depth of information.

  6. FamilySearch Partners This means we retrieve your family tree directly from FamilySearch. When you find a opportunity in your tree you can go directly to FamilySearch to fix it. Virtual Pedigree DOES NOT maintain, edit, or take responsibility for the data stored on FamilySearch. Virtual Pedigree DOES NOT store or retain any personal information for its users. Virtual Pedigree DOES store temporary data in their browser using data cached in the user's browser.

  8. Detailed View The Detail View window is the place to go when looking for personal information. The window is broken up into several main sections: the Header section, the Information section, the Links section, and the Ordinances section (LDS users only).

  9. Box views for each individual Simple Box contains only the name of the individual Detailed Box contains names, dates, and pictures. the number of spouses is listed, and some information about LDS ordinances. Source Box contains names, dates and number of sources.

  10. Box views for each individual The Source Box contains names, dates, and but the number of sources attached to an individual instead of providing a picture. The darkness of the color also reflects the number of sources.

  11. Descendance Key Each box view of every individual will either show the descendants Where no descendent is found, then an indication of likelihood of a descendent, and a place where further research can be beneficial.

  12. Additional Keys Ancestry A Blue dot indicates unknown parents, a place to do some research. Temples Green boxes indicating temple ordinances ready to do and needed to be done Extra Parents Duplicate spouses/multiple marriages Low hanging fruit Temple & research oppournities

  13. Additional information Some possible errors are more visible in the Virtual Pedigree Remember it is in the data in FamilySearch It needs to be corrected in FamilySearch, Virtual Pedigree only displays the data.
